Position Responsibilities:

Communicating with physicians and patients to coordinate and schedule surgeries and pre-operative testing

Identifying at-risk patients and ordering appropriate pre-operative testing

Documentation of medical records and pre-operative testing results

Creating provider blocks and monitoring the surgery schedule for patient placement, cancellations, and efficient use of time/equipment

Educating patients and their caregivers regarding specific care related to surgery as instructed by the surgeon/anesthesiologist

Assembling appropriate paperwork for surgical charts

Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with all HIPAA rules and regulations
Requirements:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required

An Illinois RN license is required
- Knowledge of personal computer applications and Electronic Medical Record

Previous scheduling experience and orthopedic knowledge are strongly preferred

Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively and accurately, detail-oriented

Outstanding customer service skills

Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills - ability to effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds
