This is a full time position: Monday - Friday 7:30am-3:15pm, with some after-school meeting days until 4pm.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree required
- Massachusetts Licensed Social Worker
- Massachusetts DESE License School Counselor OR School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor preferred
Reports to: Supervisor of Counseling Services
Job Goal: To provide counseling services including intervention and advocacy with respect to the social/emotional needs of students.
Responsibilities:
Implement the program core values and mandated programs.
Review of all cumulative records of assigned students including: IEPs, evaluations, progress notes, status reports, medical background, etc.
Individual/Group Counseling:
- a. See assigned students on a regular basis as well as for crisis intervention
- b. Establish, maintain and log contact with parents, teachers and any outside agencies involved with a particular student
- c. Develop and write up behavior plans and/or contracts, when necessary
- d. Initiate student-centered staff meetings when information needs to be shared at school
- e. Participate in IEP meetings as needed
- f. Maintain counseling charts with up to date progress notes
- g. Obtain consent for treatment form and proper release of information forms for each individual on your caseload
- h. Maintain appropriate student confidentiality
Health and Student Issues:
- a. Teach assigned sections of these courses
- b. Write weekly lesson plans for each class (based on established curriculum)
- c. Have all videos approved before showing
Consultation:
- a. Consult regularly with staff, parents and outside agencies
- b. Share information with Principal/ Dean/ ETF, as necessary while maintaining student confidentiality
- c. Meet for regular consultation and supervision with the Supervisor of Counseling Services
Report Writing and Record Keeping:
- a. Compile report card grades and/or individual student progress reports as required and within estimated timelines.
- b. Behavior Plans/Contracts - written and distributed as necessary
- c. IEP Goals and Objectives and IEP Meetings Information sheets for counseling caseload by date due
- d. Proper documentation of phone calls and messages
- e. Weekly progress notes
- f. Trial student feedback forms as necessary
Attend to assigned duties (i.e., lunch, cab, break duty, etc.).
Attend weekly staff meetings, in-service training, parent meetings, student-centered staff meetings.
Maintain a respectful, positive, pro-active professional attitude.
Establish goals to continue professional growth and development; maintain professional development plan.
