Job Description:
The Crew Leader is a working supervisor at a MSHA-regulated cement plant. The Crew Leader plays a critical role in overseeing and leading the team responsible for plant clean-up operations. This role requires hands-on leadership, as the Crew Leader will be actively engaged in fieldwork alongside the crew. Additionally, the Crew Leader serves as the point person for all emergency and incident response.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise team members in plant clean-up operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
- Act as the primary responder for emergencies, injuries, and incidents, directing response efforts and ensuring timely reporting in accordance with MSHA 7000 incident reports and OSHA 300 reports.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, effectively communicating with team members, management, and external stakeholders.
- Utilize basic computer proficiency to complete administrative tasks, including using Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for documentation and reporting purposes.
- Provide training to internal crew members and client personnel on safety procedures, equipment operation, and emergency response protocols.
- Maintain certifications in CPR, forklift operation, and preferably OSHA 10 (bonus: OSHA 30), demonstrating a commitment to safety and preparedness.
- Collaborate with management to assess staffing needs and adjust schedules as necessary to ensure adequate coverage and response capability.
- Serve as the primary on-call response for emergencies and incidents, with an expectation of in-person response as directed by the client or company management.
- Utilize prior heavy industrial work experience, such as mining, construction, or manufacturing, to effectively lead and support the crew in plant operations.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of verifiable supervision or management experience in a heavy industrial environment.
- Prior experience with MSHA regulations preferred.
- Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- CPR certification preferred
- Forklift certification preferred.
- OSHA 10 certification preferred (Bonus: OSHA 30)
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead by example in a hands-on environment.
- Commitment to working nights and weekends based on plant and client needs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
