Purpose: As a Finance Associate, you're a key part in supporting the Honest Weight Food Co-op's mission. This opportunity to support a growing, triple bottom line food cooperative in the finance department is both challenging and rewarding. You'll perform varied financial, bookkeeping and clerical work supporting internal needs and daily deposit reconciliations.
Reports to: Controller
Status: Part time, 24-28 hours weekly, $21.00-$23.00/hour based on experience
Responsibilities
- Timely, detail oriented performance of tasks including:
- Manage data entry of daily sales information into accounting software
- Reconciliation of store daily deposits and data entry into accounting software
- Generate sales reports on a weekly and as needed basis for staff, management, and NCG
- Reconciliation of credit card statement and other accounts as assigned by Finance Mgr
- Daily processing of vendor invoices in A/P system
- Daily correspondence with vendors and department managers to fulfill requests and resolve issues as well as maintaining the AP invoice email account
- Resolve any discrepancies or fraud with credit card processor
- Manage A/R including billing of purchases on account, manufacturer coupon resumptions, and bad checks
- Maintenance of vendor files including W9s and certificates of insurance
- Entry of annual budget into accounting software
- Generates monthly reports including donations report
- Strategically support the Finance Department in:
- Creative and innovative improvements to department procedures
- Assisting finance department in annual independent CPA audit
- Periodic (daily, weekly, monthly) routines and team projects
- Additional duties as assigned by the Staff Accountant and Controller
- Work across departments to ensure:
- Understanding of internal transaction procedures through Front End
- Compliance of accounting and finance procedure through education and training
- Support Honest Weight Food Co-op's mission by:
- Assisting in educating staff and members in cooperative finance
