Position Summary
The Purchasing Buyer will be responsible for purchasing materials and components used in the manufacturing and assembly of military electrical cable assemblies, wire harnesses, connectors and wired enclosures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Understand types of components and materials orders.
· Have knowledge of military specifications
· Be able to read and interpret detailed drawings and specifications
· Verify purchase requisitions, Bills of Materials and Picklists.
· Prepare Purchase Orders by verifying specifications, pricing, obtaining approvals from Management.
· Keep information accessible with supporting documentation (supplier quotes, specs) readily available.
· Knowledge of aerospace supplier base.
· Understand Quality Assurance Provisions.
· Understand military aerospace requirements from AS9100 certified suppliers for Quality Management Systems to ITAR requirements for export-controlled documentation.
· Know how to source new suppliers based on company requirements.
· Have experience in working with machine shops, platers, manufacturers, distributors.
· Get multiple quotes that meet the company’s expectation and compare best prices and lead times.
· Must plan and expedite Purchase Orders in an effort to maintaining Customer – “On-Time-Deliverables.”
· Devising and maintaining office systems, including but not limited to data management, filing, screening phone calls, inquires and request, organizing, coordinating appointments.
· Handling incoming email, often corresponding on behalf of the manager.
· Tracking and Expedite supplier back log.
· Responsible for sending out RFQ’s, correspondence, facilitate NCP’s/RMAs, surveys, order confirmation and maintain company Approved Supplier List.
· Have an understanding of the components used to build cable assemblies, wire harnesses and connectors.
· Be able to work with Production, Quality, Engineering, Contracts, Finance and Program Managers to support company contracts.
· Be able to carry out status meetings and reports with suppliers.
· Carrying out background research and presenting findings.
· Source hard to find components.
· Producing documents, briefing papers, reports and presentations.
· Liaison with suppliers and other staff.
· Run KPI and Syteline Reports.
· Keep supplier AS9100/ISO9001 & ITAR certifications up to date.
· Working with the VP on special projects and assignments.
· Other duties as assigned.
Education/ Qualifications
- 2-5 years’ experience in purchasing or related area and demonstrate technical proficiency.
- Must be proficient in using Microsoft office applications such as (Outlook, Word, Excel, Etc.) Required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with Quality to get NCP/RMA from suppliers is a plus.
- Ability to perform job assignments in a professional manner and be able to handle last minute changes in assignment priorities.
- High level of integrity and strong ethical value is required.
- Detail-Oriented.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently.
- Be able to work in a fast paced work environment.

Pay: $66,560.00 - $75,000.00 per year
