This is a lead level Equipment Operator classification. Incumbents operate a variety of heavy and light equipment as well as developing the daily work plan for assigned tasks. Equipment Operator incumbents operate heavy equipment at least 75% of the time and perform as on-site crew leaders on a daily basis as well as run heavy equipment.

Roles
- Ensure a deep understanding of the company's mission, vision and core values.
- Be punctual: Arrive at the yard or job site with adequate time to prepare yourself for your workday.
- Have knowledge of Excavation and layout details: Understand on-site commercial and right of way (ROW) specifications and codes.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with other excavators/laborers on the job site, assisting and supporting each other to ensure everyone is on the same page.
- Mentorship and growth: Help less experienced operators/laborers understand the task at hand, support to help them develop into skilled employees.
- Safety awareness: Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of safety regulations, rules, and responsibilities.
- Follow safety protocols: Adhere to all safety guidelines and ensure that proper safety precautions are taken to protect yourself and others on the job site.
- Tools maintenance: Maintain TBCI equipment/Tools in good working condition, reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Material handling: Safely handle and transport construction materials, ensuring they are stored securely and kept organized.
- Attention to detail: Pay close attention to measurements, things that look out of line based on your construction experience and report it to your Forman or Super.
Responsibilities
Be proficient at operating equipment: dozer, excavator, skidsteer, loader, water truck.
Have a good understanding of how a task should be performed, what machine will be best to do each task.
Understand how to operate the machine safely and be aware of surroundings all the time.
Inspect the machine and have a good enough understanding to know if something is wrong with the machine.
Operators’ responsibility to check fluids, tracks or tires and lights, prior to operating equipment.
Know lifting capacities of each machine and if rigging is proper prior to picking structures.
Ensure the ground men are in a safe area when moving or lifting structures and moving machine.
Perform regular safety check list on equipment,
Inspection of machine to include machine is serviced and notify office and or supervisor of services due or grease fittings/joints not taking or getting greased.
Ability to setup laser utilizing slope and flat grades.
How to use & setup equipment with Trimble GPS system & total station including offsets, staking, setup & take down.
Have a decent understanding of reading grading and plans.
Report all accidents and near misses to the office or supervisor.
Fill out time e-cards daily.
Assist laborers as needed.
Able to lift 80 pounds.
PPE is to be worn at times when out of the machine.
