The Chastain School at St. John is seeking an enthusiastic GA Pre-K Lead Teacher to guide a classroom of young children in a variety of educational activities and teach them the fundamental concepts they need to know for kindergarten. Patience, compassion, and energy are all vital qualities of a successful pre-K teacher. You should be capable of inspiring, encouraging, and developing young children, each of whom will have different abilities, challenges, and personalities. The top candidates will also have a creative mindset and good administrative skills, to plan and execute lessons that are memorable, innovative, and achieve the desired learning outcomes.
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Georgia Pre-K Lead Teacher requirements met and credentials in PDS system.
- Previous experience working with young children in a classroom setting, preferably GA Pre-K.
- Strong knowledge of child development theories and best practices in early childhood education.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth.
- 3 years of classroom experience required.
Certification/Licensure
· Georgia Teaching Certification – Level 4 & Higher Preferred
Essential Duties:
- Planning, implementing, assessing, and instructing 4-year-olds, based on needs of each child, and the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS).
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Effectively manage a classroom and supervise children closely to always ensure safety.
- Communicates effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership.
- Conduct child assessments and enter data into Work Sampling Online.
- Maintain open communication with parents regarding their child’s progress and development.
- Accounts for student attendance and punctuality.
- Perform all required tasks according to Bright from the Start guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Attend all required Bright from the Start training for Pre-K teachers.
- Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction.
