Journeyman Application Systems Analyst Job Duties:
Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments.
Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks.
Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems.
Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.
Formulates/defines system scope and objectives.
Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and operating time, and form of desired results.
Prepares detailed specifications for programs. Assists in the design, development, testing, implementation, and documentation of new software and enhancements of existing applications.
Works with project managers, developers, and end users to ensure application designs meet business requirements.
Formulates/defines specifications for complex operating software programming applications or modifies/maintains complex existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer.
Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents those programs.
Provides an overall operating system, such as sophisticated file maintenance routines, large telecommunications networks, computer accounting, and advanced mathematical/scientific software packages.
Assists all phases of software systems programming applications.
Evaluates new and existing software products.
Provides support from the hardware level through to the applications running to support a service.
Performance tuning, hardware replacement, firmware upgrades, and patching to all COTS software products, including operating systems.
Script writing, data storage management, network interfaces, external peripheral interfaces, and others systems interfacing
Experience with LINUX operating systems
An understanding of application performance monitoring (APM) concepts
Perform other duties as assigned
Security Clearance Requirements: Active Top Secret clearance required. Candidates must already possess this clearance level upon applying.
Experience Requirements: Agile development methods, model driven development, Business rule management, Dynamic / adaptive case management.
Education Requirements: BA/BS in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. 5 years of experience related to software development system.
Desired Skills / Qualifications: software systems programming applications, LINUX operating systems, application performance monitoring (APM) concepts.

Schedule: Day shift, Monday–Friday
Physical Requirements: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long durations of time. Also, must be able to continuously operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
