Summary
Responsible for repairing and maintaining the operation of all City vehicles.
: $23.00- $35.00/depending on qualifications and experience
- Flexible work schedules, work boots and uniforms provided. Candidate may select their desired work schedule based on what works best for them.
- 4-day work week, Monday – Friday, 2 a.m. to Noon
- 5-day work week, Monday – Friday, 6 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- 5-day work week, Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on city vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair city vehicles and equipment.
- Order necessary parts as needed.
- Maintain a clean and orderly Fleet Shop.
- Respond to road calls.
- Diagnose and repair vehicle hydraulic or electrical systems.
- Ensure work quality on all vehicle repair and/or maintenance services.
Minimum Qualifications
- 6 months to 1 year advanced study past the high school level
- 3 years related experience
- 1 ASE Certification
- Must own basic hand and air tools
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications
Education/ Experience:
- Advanced training in automotive and diesel mechanics
- 3-5 years experience in auto and diesel repair and diagnosis
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- General knowledge of automotive repair and diagnostics
- General knowledge of Fleet software processes
- Skill in utilizing Shop Key software
- Skill in performing preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment
- Skill in prioritizing and meeting deadlines
- Skill in hydraulic system repair
- Skill in diagnosing vehicle repairs
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Skill in electric diagnostics
Licenses and Certifications
- Must obtain 2 ASE Certifications within 1 year of hire
- Valid Class A Texas Driver’s License or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
The incumbent works in a fleet shop environment; occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Occasional outside work.
