Some of the projects include tower erection and decom, small to large scale gin pole work, microwave point-to-point systems, tower modifications, guy wire changeouts, plumb and tension, TIA tower inspections and drone services, AM/FM/TV broadcast services.
We have immediate openings for the following positions:
Broadcast Tower Technician – Crew Foreman
The Crew Foreman position requires experience and knowledge of heavy rigging with wire rope. This position also requires general knowledge and experience working with various broadcast antenna systems such as AM, FM, side mounted TV antennas, top mounted TV antennas, and large diameter transmission lines. An experienced Crew Foreman would also have working knowledge of structural processes involving hog rod change outs, structural upgrades, guy wire change outs, gin poles, stacking towers, and plumb and tension. The Crew Foreman is responsible for all activities on the site, including all rigging and monitoring the safety of all personnel. This position requires significant travel. 3 years of tower climbing experience is required along with 2 years of Crew Foreman experience.
Crew Foreman responsibilities and expectations:
· Efficiently manage a tower construction crew, working independently and under limited supervision of the VP Field Construction
· Experience with installation of antennas, feed lines, lighting systems, etc. on self-support towers or guyed towers at heights up to 2000’
· Operate survey equipment (Compass, transit, slope scope, etc...)
· Efficiently operate a laptop computer and have basic working knowledge of computer programs (Word, Excel, Microsoft 365)
· General working knowledge of test equipment and tuning procedures
· Read, fully understand, and implement drawings, diagrams, and schematics.
· Detailed knowledge and experience with the use of wire rope, understanding load charts, and correctly selecting the appropriate equipment to safely rig a tower and any other types of antenna support structures.
· Ability to fully understand and implement a Class IV rigging plan
· Experience on use and full understanding of a hydraulic skid hoist
· Experience with stacking towers, guy wire activities. Gin pole experience a plus.
· Familiar with various TV and radio equipment, antennas, and feed line systems
· Understand procedures involved with Plumb and Tension and inspection of physical structures.
· Collect customer closeout data and photos of work completed
· Maintain that crew adheres to a clean, orderly environment abiding by the company’s policies and all industry regulations and safety standards
Other Tower Technician Requirements
· All Crew Foreman are expected to climb regularly with your crew and monitor elevated activities
· Must pass pre-employment drug test and full background check
· Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and provide your own reliable transportation
· Ability to travel extensively across the US
· Must have your own basic hand tools and know how to properly use them
· Must be able to climb towers and work outside every day in all types of weather conditions
· Must possess proper work attire suitable for conditions
