Established and rapidly growing custom architectural millwork manufacturer looking to add an Estimator to our team. The Estimator will be responsible for analyzing construction plans & specifications, generating competitive proposals, and winning contracts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and submit competitive millwork estimates to our customers on time
- Read and understand architectural drawings and specifications for divisions 6 and 12 casework and millwork scope items
- Clearly communicate scope and pricing to customers within proposal, calls and emails
- Perform quantity takeoff and compile project summery
- Update submitted proposals with scope changes, RFI’s, addendums, etc.
- Works with Estimating Manager to review and submit accurate estimates
- Keeps Estimating Manager informed of key issues and opportunities that impact project success
- Key Function: Pursue and follow up with submitted bids to get awarded contracts
- Request and manage buyout item quotes, subcontractor quotes and special buy out pricing
- Meet with General Contractors (GC) for scope review and contract negotiations in person and over the phone
- Manage all bidding documents
- Negotiate final contract with General Contractors (GC) to ensure final scope of work is clear between both parties
REQUIREMENTS:
- Highs school diploma
- Minimum 2 years of experience in millwork estimating or closely related field of work
- Previous business-to-business sales experience with an understanding of pricing and discounting
- Ability to self-start and be self-motived to complete tasks in a timely manner
- Knowledgeable of common cabinetry sizing, dimensions, construction, materials
- Proficient at writing clear email communication both internally and externally
- Able to read, interpret, and understand architectural drawings
- Clearly communicate project scope inclusions/exclusions and point out design errors
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands and interruptions
- Possess critical thinking skills and can identify problems, think creatively, analyze situations, solve problems, and make decisions
- Be organized and possess time management skills to meet critical deadlines
- Able to navigate multiple projects that are moving at different speeds simultaneously
- Well-versed in common architectural scope items such as trims, countertops, cabinetry, desks and wall panels
