We are looking for an entry-level Inventory Specialist to join our Finance & Accounting team at Sol-Up. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate cost measurement, inventory management, and financial reporting, which are essential for strategic planning and decision-making. The ideal candidate will have an appetite for learning and growing in this role, strong attention to detail, anticipate needs of the team, and have a high-level of organizational/task management skills.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential Duties

Maintain and Update Inventory Records: Keep accurate records of inventory levels and values using appropriate accounting software. Regularly update records to reflect purchases, sales, adjustments, and transfers.

Cost Accounting: Calculate and record the costs associated with product production, including raw materials, labor, and overhead expenses. Ensure costs are allocated correctly according to company procedures and accounting standards.

Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports detailing inventory status, cost of goods sold (COGS), and gross margins. Analyze trends in inventory levels, costs, and profitability to support management decisions.

Use designated applications to manage various aspects of the job (QuickBooks Online, RAMP expense management, Google Workspace, Mac OS)

Demonstrate a pleasant and professional disposition with each prospect, client, and employee.

Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

Inventory Management
-
Audit Physical Inventory Counts: Reviews the physical counts reports to verify accuracy against system records. Investigate, collaborate with the Inventory Warehouse team and resolve any discrepancies identified during the counts.

Inventory Valuation: Apply appropriate valuation methods (FIFO, LIFO, or Average Cost) to inventory items, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and principles.

Excess and Obsolete Inventory Management: Monitor and report on excess or obsolete inventory, recommending actions to minimize their financial impact.
Cost Control and Budgeting

Variance Analysis: Perform regular variance analysis to compare actual manufacturing costs to standard/budgeted costs, identifying causes of variances and suggesting corrective actions.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, particularly related to inventory purchase and production cost estimates.

Product Costing: Calculate and maintain accurate cost information for all products, including new products and those undergoing changes, to inform pricing decisions and profitability analysis.
Compliance and Process Improvement

Compliance: Ensure accounting practices comply with relevant laws and standards, including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) or IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), and internal policies.

Audit Support: Provide necessary documentation and support during internal and external audits, especially relating to inventory and cost accounting practices.

Process Improvement: Continuously seek and implement improvements in inventory and cost accounting processes to increase accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness. Collaborate with IT to enhance or upgrade accounting systems as needed.
Cross-functional Collaboration

Collaboration with Other Departments: Work closely with the procurement, manufacturing, and sales departments to ensure that inventory and cost accounting activities are aligned with overall business operations.

Strategic Decision Support: Provide data-driven insights and analyses to support strategic decisions regarding production planning, inventory management, and cost reduction initiatives.
RAMP and QBO

Reviews all purchases and invoices relating to Inventories in RAMP.

Scan and attach all necessary documents for all Inventory Purchases in RAMP.

Reconciles Physical inventory versus RAMP versus QBO.
Special Projects and Ad-Hoc Analysis

Participate in Special Projects under the supervision of the Manager: Contribute to special projects such as system implementations, process redesign, and other initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency.

Ad-Hoc Reporting and Analysis: Perform ad hoc analysis and prepare reports as requested by the CFO/COO to support decision-making and operational planning.
Requirements:
Job Qualifications:

Typically requires a High School diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of administrative, inventory, or related experience.

MacOS and Google Workspace apps experience preferred.

Strong organizational and prioritization skills, able to work in a fast-paced environment and balance tasks.

Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization, as well as external stakeholders.

Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships with employees, management, and external contacts.

Must have reliable attendance and transportation to the office, may be asked to travel locally in Las Vegas, NV to other work site locations.

Authorized to work in the United States.

Compensation:

$15 - $20 per hour, based on experience and abilities
Schedule:

Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week Monday - Friday in the office. This position may require additional working hours during busy periods such as month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting.
