Full-time | Direct Hire | Remote Position - Working Eastern Time Hours
We have a full-time (direct hire) position for a DBA to manage DB2
databases on the IBM i for our large enterprise client. This is a remote
position working Eastern time business hours.Candidates must live in
the US, preferably on the east coast.
You will be responsible for the administration, capacity planning,
engineering/design, performance monitoring, and optimization of the DB2
for I database platform.
- Supports the design and implementation of new database environments
and redesign of existing systems to fulfill business needs.
- Monitors and evaluates the performance of IBMi databases
- Troubleshoots database performance issues.
- Manages database objects Libraries, views, tables, stored
procedures, and triggers.
- Supports developers and testing team by maintaining test
environments and configuring databases to development
specifications.
- Work with application development teams to develop data models that
support business processes.
- Ensure DB changes adhere to best practices.
- Review all proposed database changes proposed by IBMi development
team.
- Creates technical support documentation for databases.
- Acts as an SME on IBMI database structure and environment.
- 65% DB2 DBA - 35% Application Developer (RPG).
- 10+ years of IBM i/iSeries/AS400 experience
- 7+years ofexperience supporting DB2 for databases in an enterprise
environment.Experience working with enterprise applications
- Proven experience with key relational database concepts such as
database normalization, referential integrity, index strategy, and
transaction isolation.
- Expert knowledge of the DB2 for I SQL language.
- Advanced knowledge of trigger concepts, methodologies, and
implementation.
- In-depth experience diagnosing and remediating Db2 for iDatabase
performance issues using tools such as Plan Cache, Visual Explain,
Index Advisor, Detailed Database Monitor, or similar tools.
- Expert knowledge of modern RPG programming language. (ILE/Free).
- Ability to write RPG code to develop solutions to fine-tune the databases. Perform maintenance, performance tuning, analyzing tables, and queries. SQL scripts, checking for issues, etc. Tuning slow queries.
- Hands-on experience using system performance tools such as Job
Watcher, Collection Services, PEX Analyzer, or similar tools (preferred)
- Experience using Turnover, Aldon, or similar change management tools
