Colden & Seymour Ear Nose Throat & Allergy is seeking a Medical Scribe to work one-on-one with a physician in an office-based setting. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply!
The position is full-time (8AM to 5PM) with practice locations in both Newburyport and Haverhill- travel between locations expected. Prior scribes have gone on to be accepted into both medical school and physician assistant school. Experience with medical knowledge is preferred but not necessary, training will be provided.
Prerequisites are high school diploma or GED, college degree preferred, strong computer skills and technological understanding, along with integrity, and commitment to patient confidentiality rules.
Responsibilities include:
- Accompanying the physician in the exam room in order to transcribe medical information
- Documenting the physician’s dictated patient history, present illness, review of systems, past medical and surgical history, family and social history as well as allergies and medications
- Listing diagnoses as directed by the physician
- Organize the patient's chart so that the provider can easily review information.
- Accurately select CPT codes and ICD-10 diagnoses as directed by the physician.
- Document office-based procedures performed by the physician
- Recording diagnostic results such as radiology interpretations and lab values and following the progress of labs, imaging studies, and other real time patient data
- Learning, understanding and following basic documentation requirements for the International Classification of Diseases (ICD10)Understanding the flow of patient encounters in the medical office to assist the care team in making patient visits as efficient as possible.
- Establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with physicians, staff, and management
- Maintaining professional appearance and conduct at all times
- Performing a variety of other non-clinical tasks dependent on your provider's requests
- Ensuring compliance on all national and local patient privacy laws including HIPAA
- Adhering to the medical office's compliance requirements and office policies and procedures
