Job Title: Apprenticeship Specialist
Location: This position will cover 8 counties in our Northeast Region. This is a remote position with occasional work to be done in office. Frequent in-region day travel is required.

Position Overview:
The primary role of the Apprenticeship Specialist is to cultivate new Registered Apprenticeship (RA) opportunities which will result in the expansion and establishment of new USDOL RA in high-wage, in-demand industries and occupations.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement customized apprenticeship programs
· Maintain relationships with employers and apprentices
· Collaborate with education and training providers
· Conduct community outreach including public presentations
· Work closely with the Michigan Works! Northeast Business Solutions and Career Services Teams
· Identify and maximize funding sources
· Capture, manage and report data
· Track and update apprentices in OSMIS or other systems per grant requirements
· Promote and support USDOL Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAPs)
· Thorough understanding of performance objectives
· Develop strategies with team members to ensure success
· Share, discuss and educate co-workers and partner staff on apprenticeship programs
· Complete all paperwork on a timely basis and use assigned databases as directed
· Continuing education as assigned
· Meet goals as assigned
· All other duties as assigned
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Ability Required:
· Knowledge of apprenticeships preferred
· Ability to work independently and within a team
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Public speaking is required
· Exceptional organizational abilities
· Positive, professional approach and interactions
· Proficiency in Microsoft and Google applications preferred
· General knowledge of business practices
· Creative out-of-the box thinking
Education Preferences: Associates Degree
Expected Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, up to 40 with Supervisor approval
Travel Requirements: Frequent independent travel throughout the eight-county region in all seasons is required. Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Environmental Conditions: The majority of the work is completed in indoor office settings; however,the employee will be infrequently exposed to the following environmental conditions:
· Exposure to outdoor conditions including extremes of temperature and humidity.
· Visiting a variety of locations will occasionally include exposure to dust/vapor fumes, moving objects, hazardous machines, electrical exposure, and slippery work surfaces-floors.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly expected to verbally communicate in a variety of environments, including those with high levels of background noise.
- The employee frequently is required to move about worksites. This may require negotiating stairs and uneven surfaces.
- Must be able to operate a computer using word-processing and spreadsheet programs, such as Word and Excel. Competence in using presentation software, such as PowerPoint, would be beneficial.
- Must be able to read and understand written documentation.
- This position requires the ability to occasionally lift and carry materials, such as office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
