Position Description
The Lab Monitor reports to the Area Manager and assigned to the area where the CHA computer labs are located. This position monitors and observes participants? activities in an around the computer lab, offers assistance, ensures all participants are complying with established rules of use, ensure equipment is functionally properly, reports any issues or concerns detected, and performs some administrative tasks. This position requires evening/week hours.
Essential Functions
Examples of the responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Monitors all participants working in the computer lab area, and ensures participants are complying with the rules of use of the computer lab.
- Must possess basic to intermediate computer knowledge and skills i.e. knowledge of Microsoft office and internet navigation.
- Opens and closes the computer lab daily.
- Maintains daily sign-in sheets of participants utilizing the computer lab.
- Reserves the computer lab for usage by other agencies/partners, and maintains a schedule of reservation requests.
- Assists users with printing, saving and retrieving documents, general software usage problems, and/or direct to resources who may be of assistance.
- Reports and documents any instances of misuse or damage of computers and equipment to the supervisor immediately. Submit a ticket to the CHA?s Information Technology Services (ITS) Department helpdesk for issues related to hardware/software and computers/printers.
- Reports any maintenance, equipment or facility issues to the appropriate staff. Performs basic maintenance such as changing toner cartridges, loading paper, and clearing paper jams.
- Cleans the equipment (monitors, computers, and desks) on a regular basis or as needed.
- Assists in the receiving and distribution of office supplies and monitors inventory level.
- Answers incoming calls, ensures messages are given to the appropriate individuals, welcome visitors, and responds to routine inquiries related to the computer lab.
- Performs in accordance with the Family Works agency?s program requirements, including meeting timelines and reporting requirements.
- Utilizes a team approach and works with other program staff in the planning and implementation of services in the computer lab.
Essential Responsibilities
- Must possess basic computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet navigation desirable.

Qualifications
Must have high school diploma or equivalent with an understanding of working with computers.

- Equipment Used:
- Employee will generally use the telephone, computer, calculator, copier, overhead projector, paper shredder, paper cutter, and filing systems.
