Sr. Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:
As a key member of our team, you will have responsibility for new product development, project management, continuous improvement initiatives and machine certifications. The individual will be closely working with cross-functional departments to deliver the business needs of this role. The position is challenging as the business needs constantly change to meet customer expectations.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Take product ownership and engineering responsibility, lead engineering activities and become a key member of an end-to-end multifunctional product development team in the creation of new products from concept & prototype through production.
- Review OOB cases, perform necessary root cause analysis, propose corrective & preventive actions, and implement the solution in production through formal ECR process.
- Ensure the product complies with national accredited standards, like UL, ETL, NAMA etc.
- Work with 3rd parties to ensure the product complies with the latest national, state & local codes for permitting. And perform necessary design changes or get additional certification, as needed.
- Maintains follow-up documentation to report the performance of products engineering and improve product designs.
- Devises new approaches to design issues to obtain optimum solutions.
- Prepare 2D drawing, layouts, 3D models and assembly in Autodesk Inventor software & distribute the engineered drawings to the appropriate manufacturing staff.
- Closely work with manufacturing to ensure proper execution of product design changes.
- Performs tolerance analyses and other design techniques to ensure the form, fit, and function of mating parts and complete assemblies.
Additional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5-10 years’ experience in a design engineering environment driving product design and development.
- Previous project management experience is desired.
- Computer and CAD skills (Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD) are essential with the ability to learn new technical applications easily.
- Full understanding of FMEA, DFM, reliability, concepts of life predictions, and design for experiments.
- Practical hands-on build and test capabilities, basic shop skills.
- Knowledge of Tollgate based Lean Product Development process & Sheetmetal design is a plus.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
