Job Title: Junior Social Science Analyst
JY Advisory is seeking a junior Social Science Analyst to support federal and state government agencies in program evaluation, social science and policy research, and statistical and economic analysis.
Responsibilities:
· Process and analyze public policy documents and research products
· Produce summaries, briefings, research tools and other documentations
· Design, develop, administer and analyze questionnaires, surveys and generate reports
· Conduct interviews, focus group and other qualitative research to support the overall research goal
· Conduct technical review of economic or program evaluation research products
· Perform literature review and web research
· Perform data analysis using statistical software such as R, Python, STATA, or SAS
· Draft technical reports
· Assist in managing and maintaining agency’s research repository and toolkits
· Support program operation, management, and meeting coordination
· Perform outreach activities and engage research communities and interest group
· Produce training materials and provide in-person or online trainings
· Conduct quality assurance and control
· Present findings to the team and stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Sociology or Statistics
· Demonstrate ability to accurately process and analyze documents in fields of public policy, economics, sociology, or other social sciences.
· Excellent critical thinking and information synthesis skills
· Experience of doing qualitative and quantitative research and writing research paper
· Be able to conduct literature review, interview, focus group and survey development
· Great speaking and writing skills
· Great interpersonal and communication skills and client facing experience
· Be organized, detail oriented, and responsive
· Be able to multitask and meet deadlines
· Proficient in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
· Develop project documentations and assist with project management activities
· Support proposal writing and business development
· Good team player
Preferred Qualifications:
· Ph.D. in Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, or Sociology
· Two years’ research experience in labor, e.g., employment and training, worker protection compliance, apprenticeship, workforce development, international affairs, etc.
· One or more years’ program evaluation or policy research experience after graduate school
· Has research publications
· Be able to do data and statistical analysis using software such as R, Python, Stata, or SAS
· Experience of event coordination and convening meetings
· Project coordination or management experience
