Summary of position
This position will primarily focus on developing the Islah LA Housing program by building partnerships with other major housing organizations and exploring sources of funding for growth. There will also be a secondary focus on case management and administration of Islah LA’s Tayseer Zakat funds. General duties of the Housing & Outreach Manager include networking and attending meetings with major LA housing organizations, researching the best channels for potential funding, overseeing day-to-day operations of the housing program. You should be ready to mentor your team members, find ways to increase quality of customer service and implement best practices across all levels. Ultimately, we’ll trust you to help us remain compliant, efficient and profitable during the course of business.
Islah LA is a growing organization. As such, while the vision is for the position to focus on housing and case management, the employee will occasionally be required to support other activities as needed by the organization.
General Duties & Responsibilities
- Explore funding opportunities to fund and expand Islah LA Housing
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Islah LA Housing program
- Network and build partnerships with other housing organizations in Los Angeles and other regions
- Develop Re-Entry Services for returning citizens
- Build and Head the Islah LA Housing Outreach Team
- Organize events related to housing & incarceration
- Build a path towards financial sustainability for Islah LA Housing
- Oversee the proper distribution of Islah LA’s Tayseer Zakat (Emergency Financial Relief) funds every month
- Perform case management to ensure the eligibility of Zakat recipients, and help give them a path towards sustainability
- Assist the Executive Director and the Development Director with additional duties necessary to further the growth of the organization
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited University, or a high level of working experience in a related field
- Ability to be driven and proactive in pursuing relationships with potential partners
- Ability to effectively communicate Islah’s vision and value to potential partners
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences in different settings
- Ability to efficiently travel by car between different sites
- Ability to engage in conflict resolution & de-escalation
- Persuasive and passionate written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to work with Excel, Powerpoint, and Word (or equivalents)
- An eye for creating efficiencies and keeping track of details
- Comfort with computers and a variety of online platforms
- Attention to detail
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to keep multiple projects moving forward simultaneously
Preferred skills (but not required)
- Case management experience
- Graphic design skills
- Experience with training others in strategic communications and spokesperson skills

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
