Essential Job Responsibilities and Performance Indicators:
- Monitor implementation and quality of curriculum and assessment, including Reviewing lesson plans, child observations, and accuracy of analysis in Core Knowledge, student assessment and quality of evidence, and work sampling outcomes.
- Promotes procedures and practices as established in The Creative Curriculum; assists teaching staff with appropriate curriculum planning and implementation.
- Ensures that program activities and classroom environment set-up are inclusive to all beliefs, cultures, and family situations while promoting language and literacy development.
- Supports and mentors the teaching staff in group training and in-class, one-on-one coaching (e.g., modeling, demonstrating, observing, and providing feedback in a supportive, instructive, and non-judgmental manner).
- Conducts classroom observations, models effective teaching practices, and provides feedback to strengthen teachers’ areas of weakness.
- Scores teachers using the Classroom Assessment and Scoring System (CLASS).
- Uses a scientifically researched-based curriculum and assessment tool to implement the program’s educational goals for infants and toddlers.
- Track and analyze child outcomes and use data to make recommendations to improve instruction and program development.
- Collaborate with teaching staff and Disabilities/Mental Health Coordinator regarding child behavior or learning challenges and recommend teaching strategies to encourage learning experiences.
- Work with others to develop a schedule for conducting observations of the early learning environment, teaching practices, adult/child interactions, etc., as a foundation for determining needs.
- Develop and deliver training on subject matter related to early childhood education best practices.
- Model and demonstrate effective classroom practices for early childhood educators.
- Observe and provide feedback to educators in the early childhood classrooms.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood or related field.
Must take the PreK CLASS™ Observation Training and pass the reliability test within 12 months of hire.
Must complete Practice-Based Coaching training before beginning an intensive coaching cycle with a teacher.
- Ability to pass background checks and health screening.
- Possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to adapt quickly and positively to changing demands, stressful situations, and multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and lead projects and activities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent critical thinking, organization, and analytical skills.
