Job Summary:
The patient transport driver is responsible for safely transporting patients to and from medical facilities, residences, and other locations as needed. They ensure the comfort and safety of patients during transit and may provide assistance as required.
Responsibilities:
1. Safely transport patients to and from medical appointments, hospitals, nursing homes, and other destinations.
2. Assist patients in and out of vehicles, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey.
3. Operate specialized vehicles equipped for transporting patients adhering to all safety protocols and traffic regulations.
4. Maintain cleanliness and proper sanitation of vehicles, including regular cleaning and disinfection of surfaces.
5. Communicate effectively with patients, medical staff, and dispatchers to coordinate pick-up and drop-off schedules.
6. Ensure the security of patients' belongings and medical equipment during transit.
7. Follow established procedures for handling medical emergencies or incidents during transport, including providing basic first aid if necessary.
8. Document transportation activities, including mileage, destinations, and any incidents or unusual occurrences.
9. Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks, such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and overall vehicle condition, and report any issues to Maintenace.
10. Adhere to company policies and procedures, including those related to patient confidentiality, safety, and professionalism.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Valid driver's license.
3. Previous experience in patient transport, medical transportation, or a related field preferred.
4. Basic knowledge of first aid procedures and CPR certification may be required.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact compassionately with patients and their families.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
7. Physical ability to assist patients in and out of vehicles and lift/move mobility aids as needed.
8. Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
9. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
10. Willingness to undergo background checks and drug screenings as required by the employer.
