The critical areas of focus and key aspects of how the success of the Continuous Improvement Manager will be defined are as follows:
- Ensure that our ISO accreditation status remains current by promptly and accurately fulfilling all accreditation and customer obligations.
- Design and execute a comprehensive long-term strategic plan for continuous improvement, by crafting a Standard Work library that defines “The Carlton Way” throughout all crucial phases of the Sales Order life cycle process, while seamlessly integrating best practice lean methodologies and procedures.
- Strengthen and broaden the influence of Carlton Academy as “The Premiere Training & Learning Organization” that drives a unique, sustained competitive advantage.
- Implement and manage an effective audit system to evaluate organizational performance and compliance, leveraging your expertise in auditing and coaching principles. “Remove the fear of an audit – drive it as a positive growth experience.”
- Utilize data analysis methods to generate comprehensive reports that track performance metrics, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions to optimize organizational efficiency.
Continuous Improvement Manager - Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for ensuring that our ISO:17025 accreditation status remains current by promptly and accurately fulfilling all accreditation obligations.
- Design and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive continuous improvement program specifically tailored to CIS, ensuring its effective execution across all CIS Operating Companies; and that can accommodate the unique needs and challenges within a service organization.
- Create a roadmap for the continuous improvement program, aligning it closely with CIS's overarching vision, goals, and strategic priorities.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans and timelines to ensure the successful implementation of improvement initiatives.
- Monitor progress closely, track milestones, and provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders on the progress, results, and challenges encountered throughout the implementation process.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify best practices and craft the Standard Work library that defines “The Carlton Way” throughout all crucial phases of Sales Order life cycle process.
- Facilitate the development of actionable plans to address opportunities, emphasizing the importance of standardizing processes to drive efficiency and consistency.
- Utilize a variety of Lean tools and techniques to drive process improvements.
- Harness the power of data analysis and metrics to inform decision-making processes. This includes identifying performance gaps, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), analyzing improvement opportunities, and measuring the success of implemented initiatives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration to empower associates to actively contribute to the continuous improvement journey.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with “The Carlton Way”.
- Offer personalized coaching, mentoring, and support to all associates. This includes providing guidance on problem-solving approaches, offering constructive feedback, and facilitating skill development to enhance overall effectiveness and performance.
Continuous Improvement Manager - Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field, preferably Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
- 3-5 years of Operational Excellence/Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing experience
- A combination of relevant education, leadership, industry, and professional experience may also be considered.
- Extensive technical skills and hands-on experience in continuous improvement field experience.
- Demonstrated coaching, communication, change management, & leadership skills preferred.
- Proven expertise in planning/organizing, managing execution, checking results, & revising complex, cross functional projects preferred.
- Knowledge of the following standards and application of systems is a plus: ISO/IEC 17025. ANSI/NCSL Z540-1, ANSI/NCSL Z540.3, EURAMET Calibration Guide No. 18, ASME B30, OSHA, and MSHA.
- Knowledgeable in the following areas a plus -IMTE, MTE, Dimensional, General purpose, mechanical, Torque, pressure, temperature, power supplies, calipers, Micrometers, Scales, balances, ESD, Thermocouple, Thread gages, and data loggers.
Continuous Improvement Manager - Physical Requirements
- Willingness to travel across the Mid-Atlantic and Carlton’s expanding footprint, potentially up to 50% of the time for in-person duties, subject to business requirements.
- Able to sit or drive for extended periods, up to eight hours daily, with limited breaks.
- Capability to occasionally lift up to 100lbs and frequently lift up to 50lbs, involving various physical tasks like climbing, bending, and reaching.
- Comfortable working at different heights, indoors and outdoors, in diverse weather conditions.
- Proficient in performing essential job functions in various environments, including confined or unsanitary conditions.
- Skilled in executing rapid, repetitive movements of fingers, hands, and wrists efficiently.
