To that end, the Learning Design team is seeking enthusiastic and experienced instructional designers for the role of Associate Director, Learning Design for Graduate Programs. This role will engage and inspire faculty to embrace pedagogies and instructional tools that enhance the learning experience and environment. This Associate Director will serve as the Learning Design team’s representative on committees and initiatives related to graduate programs and courses. This position will support graduate school faculty in developing courses, modalities and curricula that meet the needs of identified student personas. The incumbent will have experience in working with graduate Business programs, and ideally will have prior experience working with MBA programs and case teaching. The Associate Director will provide expertise in the sustainable adoption of best practices in asynchronous teaching, blended, and remote synchronous teaching.
Essential Duties:

Provide excellent instructional design support to promote deep engagement between learners, instructors, and with the University.

Provide expertise in the development of asynchronous and blended course and program development.

Represent the Learning Design team in meetings/committees focused on the development of graduate programs, curricula that is aligned with strategic goals.

Engage faculty in embracing best practices in teaching and learning, particularly in online modalities, in graduate courses. A key focus area should be promoting and supporting active and experiential learning practices.

Work collaboratively with faculty and other learning designers and the multimedia course developers to identify, create and update digital (or dynamic/engaging) learning content for newly designed and/or revised online courses.

Translate instructor concepts and contextual material into a wide range of online graphics, videos or other illustrative resources and systematically integrate visual, audio, and interactive and assessment-based solutions as part of the course development process, serve as liaison with experts in the academic technology center on behalf of the faculty member.

Provide consulting and training to faculty on learning design strategies, testing and academic integrity strategies, effective practices and pedagogy, and synchronous and asynchronous learning approaches.

Assess effectiveness of experiences through available student interaction data.

Evaluate courses, as directed by Academic Leadership, using evaluation resources such as Quality Matters (QM).

Stay up-to-date on emerging trends related to learning solutions development and instructional design.

Work with faculty to create inclusive classroom climates and culturally responsive pedagogies. Share new findings and insights with colleagues and stakeholders.

Support the development of new learning assessment data and analytics.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Master’s degree required. Master's degree in Instructional Design or related field strongly preferred

At least 3-5 years of experience working with graduate programs, with priority given to candidates who have worked with graduate business programs or MBA programs and case teaching

Comprehensive knowledge of current instructional theories and principles applicable to web-based instruction

Proficiency using Learning Management Systems and web conferencing and teaching platforms

Knowledge of video, audio and digital production (recording, editing, file compression). Basic image manipulation proficiency

Ability to create a vision and then transform that vision into engaging resources that enhance learning. Solutions must be comprehensive, creative and geared for graphics, video and multimedia production and individual must have ability to produce said solutions

Ability to improve the quality of existing course media on both a large and small scale

Experiences working effectively with faculty, faculty governance and curriculum development in higher education

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency with eLearning authoring tools like Articulate Storyline/360 to develop interactive content

Experience with D2L Brightspace Learning Management System

Higher education e-learning and project management tools

Experience with program-level assessment processes and practices
Work Environment:

Normal office work environment with extensive sitting and computer work which may result in some eye strain

Ability to move between buildings

Hybrid position, with three days of on campus work expected
