About the Opportunity
In this position, you’ll serve as the right-hand person to the Founder and CEO of Professional Tree Care Company. Reporting the Strategic Assistant to the CEO (as you get up to speed), and working alongside our Director of Finance and Accounting, you’ll act as the team's liaison to the CEWO when he's on the road or out of the country. Our EA will become a critical collaborator to a team that is evolving quickly.
The person who fills this role must be highly organized, have a GREAT memory, and know how to use software to keep track of the 100+ tasks you'll be tagged with each day. He/She/They should be a fantastic writer and editor since roughly 20% of their job will involve producing most all content related to our corporate communications. Our "EA+W" will edit, review, and otherwise manage material submitted by fellow employees including industry articles, blog(s), proposals, ads, and web content.

Since 1980, The Professional Tree Care Company has been trusted for tree services throughout Northern California. Based in West Berkeley, we service commercial, residential, and public works projects from Mendocino to Monterey, and from San Francisco to Sacramento. We are known for excellent customer service, and the ability to remove enormous trees using large cranes and heavy equipment.
What makes us unique? We recycle 100% of material removed from job sites at our own Green Waste Recycle Yard, mill logs into boards, and create organic mulch from the wood chips. We also have the staff, equipment, resources, and experience to perform tree services at any scale.

Your Responsibilities Include
- Provide high-level support to our CEO by serving as the primary point of contact between him and our staff plus a wide variety of clients and community members; reduce his daily call volume immediately
- Identify and set up software systems/apps (like Amplenote or Todoist) that allow you to track your work and that of our CEO from your work phone and desktop at all times
- Lead corporate communications as the company’s primary writer and editor for content including web, blog, industry articles, etc.
- Manage the CEO’s professional calendar including scheduling and preparing for daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual meetings, plus other important dates
- Keep track of and follow up on projects assigned to managers by the CEO and vice versa
- Assume responsibility for special projects such as grant writing projects, filing paperwork to establish a 510(c)3 for tree-planting, workforce development, and a tiny homes project he has in mind that will
- Participate in leadership meetings to gain a comprehensive understanding of the company’s projects and growth patterns
- Work alongside our Marketing intern and Sales Support Representative to develop sales traffic reports
- Ensure that our CEO is meeting deadlines for project details he’s responsible for
- Perform special projects such as researching, compiling, analyzing data, and synthesizing information
- Develop processes to increase efficiency
- Take on new projects of interest as you’re able
Requirements, Experience, Skills, and Abilities
- You want to be an E.A. for the next few years and are seeking an opportunity close to home
- You’re a solid writer who would enjoy editing and reviewing company content. You either have a degree in English or creative writing, read a great deal, or write as a hobby. In all cases, show us your writing skills in the REQUIRED COVER LETTER.
- You live locally; the closer to West Berkeley the better
- You're free to work a flexible schedule. For example, this summer you’ll need to be available when the boss is in another time zone: UTC+2. This job is best for folks who do not need to leave work at a specific time since you may be asked to come in early or leave late as needed
- You’re naturally upbeat and optimistic. You consider yourself a somewhat extrovert people-person and like meeting new clients and employees over the phone and in person
- You work FAST, have high attention to detail, and can manage a wide variety of tasks efficiently. Note: this role is best for someone with a great memory!
- You’re comfortable making decisions with very little information and willing to change them if needed
- You recognize the importance of confidential and sensitive information management and won’t spill the beans
- The standard stuff: Smart with great time management and problem-solving skills. Able to keep personal phone calls and non-work related chit chat to a minimum, being extremely hardworking and emotionally intelligent
- Computer skills: DocuSign, Outlook Calendar & Email, able to manage three email accounts
- You’re authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, year-round position with a starting salary of between $52,000.00 and $56,160.00, depending on your relevant work experience, fit for the role, and fit to our company culture. This role is new to the company so please do not apply if your compensation requirements are higher than our budget allows. The position comes with a benefits package including:
