Senior Functional Safety Engineer

Salary Range: $160,000.00 - 190,000.00 Annually

Summary of the Position:
As the Senior Functional Safety Engineer, you will exhibit a high level of technical knowledge and proficiency in safety systems engineering and the development of specifications. Collaborating within a team-oriented environment, you must perform with utmost professionalism.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in Safety Systems Engineering and Applications Consulting
Education:
Bachelors's degree in Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
Functional Safety Certification required (TÜV FSE, exida CFSP, or ISA84 SIS Fundamentals | Preferred Certifications: exida CFSE, ISA84 SIS Expert, or TÜV Rheinland FSExpert)
PMP certification preferred
Core Competencies:
- Technical Proficiency - Extensive experience in all aspects of safety lifecycle management, including the development of PHA/LOPAs, hazard identification, safeguards allocation, Independent Protection Layers (IPLs) allocation, Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS), logic narrative development, and SIL Calculations. Additionally, must possess experience in developing test and validation procedures. Knowledge of PLC/SIS programming, panel design, and integration with DCS and auxiliary PLCs. Ability to lead commissioning/cutovers, conduct loop checks, perform logic validation/testing, and provide start-up assistance/troubleshooting. Proficiency in generating SRS documents using at least one of the following Safety Lifecycle Management software: exSILentia V3/V4, SILSolver, aeShield, or Safety Lifecycle Manager (SLM).
- Safety - Responsible for adhering to company safety policies and procedures.
- Client Interaction - Ensure regular communication with clients, comprehend and address their concerns and input. Assist clients and collaborate with their engineers and operators in defining project requirements and functionality.
- Morale & Teamwork - Consistently maintain high professional standards in a team environment. Capable of leading project team members and inspiring them to achieve project objectives.
- Training - Ensure that all necessary trainings and certifications are up to date and valid. Provide recommendations for training and professional development for the Sugar Land team.
- Quality - Ensure compliance with effective company and Client QA/QC processes.
Other Skills/Qualifications:
- Required experience in IPL Assessments, SIL Calculations, Safety Requirement Specs, and Safety Lifecycle Management Software
- Proficiency in SLIM Process writing
- Preferred experience with SIS/PLC Platforms such as Emerson Delta V (CSLS and SLS), Triconex, and/or Yokogawa Prosafe
