Primary Responsibilities:
To aid in all restaurant dining room functions in accordance with established federal, state and local regulations. To create a pleasant dining experience for our restaurant patrons.
Qualifications:
High School diploma and 6 months or more experience working in a restaurant, hotel, or country club. Must have or be willing to obtain a food safety certification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Hospitality: Provides all areas of service to tenants and guests in dining room. Uses good communication for performing sequence of service. Demonstrates a neat and presentable appearance, observing Liberty dress code. Maintains good relationships with the tenants and guests. Assists with the seating and ensuring there are seats available when the tenants arrive for meals. May assist tenants to or from the dining room, if escort is needed. Responsible for setting /clearing tables and arrangement of seating, setting neatly with flatware, napkins, and placements. Ensures cleanliness and condition of all china and flatware. (must be free of water spots, coffee cups should be free of coffee stains). Assist tenants who need help in selecting their meals if needed. Responsible for proper cleaning of the dining room and serving area between meals and at the end of shift. Follow proper sanitation schedules. Responsible for preparation/plating of food items, such as, salads, soups, desserts and hot/cold beverages. Keep all supplies stocked in serving area. Responsible for rotating menus, guest charge tickets, resident declining dollar, point of sale and room service forms. Assist in dish and utensil washing and cleaning including gathering soiled items from cart, trays and dining areas, placing clean items in proper storage areas. Assists in cleaning tables and chairs, vacuuming dining areas, sweeping and mopping kitchen floor areas. Perform all daily tasks in accordance with the established sanitary, safety, and infection control policies and procedures. May assist with special events/ activities held at Liberty Senior Living. Review and promptly report to Dining supervisors all guests’ complaints and grievances.
· Food Safety: Utilizes safe food preparation methods when receiving, preparing, storing, cooling, freezing, holding, transporting, serving, and reheating foods. Monitors temperature records and checklists for holding and storing equipment to maintain safe food at all stages in the flow of food. Maintains a clean and sanitary kitchen at all times. Ensures and assists with cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work areas according to established checklist. Reports and takes immediate and appropriate corrective action if standards are not met.
· Customer Dining: Creates a positive dining experience for customers that promotes their independence, choice and overall well-being. Encourages participation in the dining program, and meal activities. Solicits feedback by interacting with customers in the market cafe. Conveys feedback and makes recommendations, regarding food quality and customer satisfaction to the Executive Chef.
· Miscellaneous: The wait staff actively participates and implements quality performance in all aspects of job responsibilities and functions. This includes all interactions with tenants, staff and visitors. He/She participates in and promotes teamwork. The waitstaff seeks, recommends and/or implements new methods and means of providing quality service and continuous improvement. He/she participates in continuing educational opportunities as appropriate.
· Other Duties as assigned: The wait staff looks for and reports any items in need of repair to the Dining supervisors. He/She uses applicable infection control procedures. In the event of a fire or emergency, he/she assists with the tenant evacuations. He/She may assist staff and other waitstaff/cooks with event preparations and clean-up. He/She works closely with the Dining Room Manager/Director of Food and Beverage, Cooks and other staff to plan resident events. He/She attends in-service training and other work-related meetings as required or approved. He/She carries out special projects as identified. He/She helps with any other areas of the building as needed.
Physical Qualification:
· Vision – Must be able to read normal print, to note resident condition, color changes
· Hearing - Must be able to hear normal tones, intercom, and fire alarm.
· Speech – Must be able to speak English, communicate with patients, families, and other staff.
· Physical - Must be able to tour facility daily. Intermittent sitting, standing, and walking required. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
· Other - Must be able to read and write English.
· Must be able to detect odors that are obvious to normal sense of smell.
Other Essential Requirements and Responsibilities:
1. Work experience in a service-orientated profession preferred but not necessary.
2. Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards the elderly is essential.
3. Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
4. Attends trainings and department meetings when necessary.
5. Performs other duties as outlined by supervisor.
6. Is effective at delivering written and spoken instruction on a regular basis.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 30 per week
