Description of duties and responsibilities: The peer recovery specialist is and individual with lived experience of addiction and recovery who provides specialized support and case management to adolescents impacted by addiction.

Orients new students to the school’s programs and policies

Collaboratively develop an individual recovery plan with students

Complete documentation and paperwork as necessary

Participates in weekly team meetings, contributing feedback regarding the student’s behavior, progress, and recovery stability

Assists with student intake and follow up assessments

Ensures that students are connected to any necessary outside supports

Immediately reports any concerns to supervisor

Facilitate recovery process groups

Chaperone students on field trips during school hours and weekend as needed

Provide year-round phone support for enrolled students

Must be able to observe urine screening.

Must be able to transport youth in a company issued van.

Qualifications for position:

Lived experience of addiction recovery, with a minimum of three years continuous abstinence if in personal recovery. High school Diploma required. Associate degree and NJ Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) Preferred
EVENING AND WEEKEND AVAILABILITY: Must be available evenings and weekends
Skills, knowledge, personal qualities required: Must possess the skills, knowledge, and personal qualities required to fulfill the responsibilities listed above. Strong writing and computer skills required. Bi-lingual preferred.
