Job Title: Infant/Toddler Caregiver
Period of Employment: 12 months Hours:32 hours/week
Program/Department: Early Head Start or EHS-CCP Revised: December 2018

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Infant/Toddler Caregivers maintain healthy, safe and stimulating environments for 8-9 infants or toddlers in an Early Head Start classroom through daily caregiving routines and intentional learning experiences to promote school readiness. Caregivers are responsible to complete daily documentation, screenings, assessments, home visits and conferences while working with children and their families as outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards and Community Care licensing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Classroom Caregiving Practices
- Provides care for eight or nine infants or toddlers in an Early Head Start classroom, including primary care for assigned infants or toddlers, including but not limited to feeding, diapering, supporting napping routines and providing intentional experiences while using developmentally appropriate practices.
- Maintains and ensures a safe, clean and healthy learning environment for the infants or toddlers in their care with the implementation of required health practices and supervision and management of children in the classroom.
- Provides effective and nurturing teacher-child interactions that promote the social and emotional development of infants or toddlers based on the selected research-based model, Program for Infant Toddler Care philosophies, Child Start philosophies and Early Head Start Performance Standards.
