ETC is hiring an Associate Editor to join the Education Portfolio content team. The Associate Editor will focus on District Administration and University Business, leading publications for K-12 and higher-ed leaders and decision-makers. This individual will be responsible for assisting the Managing Editor in all aspects of the editing process, including copyediting, proofreading, and fact-checking articles before they are published. This position is also responsible for managing newsletters, maintaining the editorial calendar, and working with writers to ensure that their articles are ready to be published on time.
This is a remote role, and work from a home-based office is permitted up to 5 days a week.
Core Duties:

Proof, edit, and fact-check content as well as manage newsletters, check layouts, update social media channels, and write short articles.
- Assemble 10-12 newsletters per week (content will be provided by editor and staff writers)

Help the editorial team update social media channels.
- Create and manage editorial content for assigned sections.

Develop and manage content calendars for upcoming print issues, newsletters, and digital content.

Ensure editorial content is reviewed and edited for accuracy.

Research and source stories and data.

Produce content ensuring timeliness, quality, and compliance with editorial standards.

Manage an editorial calendar.

Develop and write content.

Coordinate with internal and external content providers.
Responsibilities:

Manage multiple editorial projects and assignments, including, but not limited to, editing, proofreading, editing copy for Web and print content

Copyedit and proofread content from other writers
-
Edit copy for content managers
-
Edit and proofread documentation
-
Edit content for production
-
Keep editorial calendars, schedules, and priorities up to date

Manage editorial workflow
-
Perform editing tasks
-
Travel to ETC Network conferences, no more than 10% per year
Qualifications
-
Proficiency using Microsoft 365 applications, primarily Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word

Ability to publish eye-catching posts to social media platforms, particularly LinkedIn, Facebook and X
-
Ability to spot and correct errors quickly and efficiently

Knowledge of SEO strategies

Strong collaboration and communication skills

Flexibility to adapt to change with enthusiasm and poise
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, English, or a related field, and/or equivalent, relevant work experience (3-4 years) desired
Desired Qualifications

Experience working at a business-to-business media organization, news or marketing website, and/or print publication

Experience publishing and producing in a content management system preferred.
Physical demands of the job include:

Performing work in an indoor office environment. Remote work is permitted.

Operating standard office equipment such as computers, printers, keyboards, monitors, phones, and other telecommunications or internet-enabled communications devices

Possessing short-distance visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and/or extensive reading.

Communicating verbally via telephone and other web-based conferencing services.

Occasionally lifting and carrying small parcels, packages and other items or walking short distances. Traversing longer distances and/or standing for extended periods of time will be required during conferences and in-person events.

Up to 10% travel, as required.
Position Type and Expected Work Hours
This is a regular, full-time position. Work is typically conducted Monday – Friday, during ETC’s core business hours, between 9:00 AM and 5:30 PM.

The annual base compensation for this role is $55,000.00 – 60,000.00. Factors used to determine the compensation range for a given position may impact what compensation within the stated range may be offered to any individual candidate (e.g., years of experience, level of education or credentials obtained, geographic and market considerations, etc.).
