Summary:
This position is responsible for managing General Accounting, Tax and Payroll Departments and reports to the Director of Finance. Directs financial activities of an organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. To successfully complete those tasks, the following duties may be required:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
General Accounting
- Direct a timely and accurate month-end close.
- Prepares financial statements including the income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flow along with required supporting schedules.
- Analyzes financial information, monitors budgeted vs. actual expenditures and advises management about variances.
- Oversees the reconciliation of monthly ledgers including receivables, payables, bank, and other general ledger accounts
- File statutory accounts for UK entity.
- Ad-hoc financial analyses and metric reporting to support strategic decision-making
- Provide leading support for audits and year-end close
- Fixed asset management
- Responsible for the development of employees and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to the Finance organization.
- Supports FP&A on operating budgets and financial forecasts
- Implement and maintain accounting procedures, processes, and policies
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other relevant regulations
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and changes in accounting regulations
Payroll
- Manage payroll for Corporate Office over 200 employees. Process non-exempt payroll on a weekly basis and exempt payroll on semi-monthly.
- Oversee the divisional Payroll functions to ensure proper compliance with Company’s policies and procedures.
- Ensures the Company is in compliance with federal and state rules, laws and regulations.
- Provide necessary information for external audit requests and corporate financial information.
- Responsible for processing and funding 401(k) contributions to ensure compliance with ERISA rules.
- Assist with the administration of the SERP and NQDC.
- Approve monthly journal entries.
- Perform monthly and quarterly payroll analysis and reconciliations of payroll accounts.
- Review annual 401(k) employer contribution calculation, bonus run, NQDC employer contribution and W-2s.
- Communicate effectively with employees regarding requests for information or various inquiries.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Provide leading support for 401(k) audit
- Other duties as required.
Tax
- Coordinates preparation of applicable federal, state, and local tax returns for Corporate, Subsidiaries and VIEs.
- Reviews tax provision calculations
- Provide leading support for tax audits
- Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.
Qualifications:
- Directly supervises employees in the General Accounting, Corporate Payroll and Tax. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Accounting from four-year college or university; two or more years related audit experience with industry specialization in manufacturing and two or more years of accounting experience in private sector. At least one year of supervisory experience. CPA required.
- Experience with preparation of consolidated financial statements a must. International experience a plus.
- Must have demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written/oral communication skills, including ability to document memos to report findings and submit recommendations to top management.
- Demonstrated analytical experience, strong project management, leadership, problem solving, continuous improvement, and teambuilding skills also a must.
- Good understanding of financial internal control systems (ie. revenues and cash receipts, purchases and cash disbursements, inventory, and payroll).
- Able to compose "audit program guides" for both financial and operational audits. Able to draft completion memos to report findings and propose recommendations to senior management. Familiar with corporate budgeting and forecasting. Knowledge of standard costing and material and labor variances is important.
