Waghouse Dog Daycare is a newer small business in Eldersburg, MD which opened in September 2022. We are creative, innovative and fun and our goal is to provide a safe, organized and fun environment for groups of dogs to play, inside and outside, while interacting with each other and our staff.
Our work environment includes:
- Flexible working hours
- Lively atmosphere
- Casual work attire
- Dog snuggles
Waghouse Dog Daycare is looking to add a new canine handler, or two, to their team. Hours can range from 10-35+ hours but are very strictly associated to the work ethic, motivation, attention to detail, and consistency shown by the applicant.
Shifts currently begin at 6:30am, 7am, 7:30am and 8am for morning shifts, and 1pm, 1:30pm, 2pm or 3pm for afternoon to closing. Closing shifts end at around 6:30pm after we close at 6pm.
We generally hire at Part Time with possibility of turning into Full Time once good, consistent work ethic and positive attitude is proven. *Management position also potentially available.
Please include your Resume and References with your application.
Experience is a major plus when applying with us so please point out your strengths and experience in working with dogs especially if it has been in a dog daycare setting, professional dog training, veterinary setting, grooming and/or kennel setting, as these are much more closely related to the needs of understanding dog behavior than other dog related jobs.
Online training will be provided to all hired staff members and new staff will be required to complete this dog training course within the first month of hiring on their own time. This is not a temporary position and new staff training is a personalized, paid program so please be serious when applying.
The position is a Dog Caretaker/Attendant with the possibility of, after training if no experience and if the applicant chooses to: bathing dogs, dog nail trims, dog ear and teeth cleaning, anal gland expressions, and lots and lots of cleaning tasks.
This is also a highly stimulating, loud environment where most of the day you are trying to teach dogs manners while cleaning up many dog messes. Too many believe you can sit around and watch dogs play but this is not how we function so please do not think this is a sitting, relaxed, quiet job. You must be able to handle the constant high energy and noise.
Canine Caretakers are required to take photos of dogs in their group on their personal phones of the dogs playing for us to post online for owners. This starts day 1 so your phone must be capable to do this and ready to send these to another phone.
YOU MUST BE COMFORTABLE TO SPEAK TO CLIENTS within reason; not just work with dogs.
Please do not apply if you have trouble with constructive criticism for growth or have a known negative attitude issue. Positivity only, please!
