Mark Day School seeks a collaborative, innovative After School Club Program Leader for the 2024-25 school year and beyond. Description - The Extended Day Program and the After School Club (ASC) provide a safe, fun, and enriching after-school environment for students K-8 to create, play, relax, and engage as kind and conscientious members of our community. The ASC provides opportunities for both structured and self-directed activities across all grade levels. Students are encouraged to be creative and innovative, kind and curious as they engage in outdoor play and sports, arts, crafts and various projects throughout the year. Program Leaders will gain valuable experience working with students in an independent school setting. This position is part-time up to 5 days per week from 2:00pm to 6:00pm during the school year, with opportunities for additional hours and summer work.
Opportunities and Responsibilities
Ensure the physical and emotional safety of students at all times
Supervise and actively engage with students during indoor and outdoor play
With the Director, help develop programs and projects to enhance the ASC experience
Support the Mission, Vision and Values of Mark Day School and demonstrate these qualities with our students
Maintain a calm, clean and attractive physical space in the ASC, and deliver snack to students
Assist with homework and projects as needed
Engage and build connections with students K-8 as well as parents/guardians
Utilize our app-based student information system for daily student attendance tracking
Communicate with the Director regarding student incidents and daily happenings
Desired Qualifications
Experience working with elementary-age students in a school and/or educational setting
Reliable, courteous and professional demeanor, including punctuality and respect
Detail-oriented and well organized
Ability to take initiative in leading activities, intervening in and managing conflict, supporting student wellbeing
Enthusiasm, creativity and a love of children
Strong communication and collaboration skills with both students and adults
Willingness to learn and develop skills by keeping up with best practices in education
TB, LiveScan and proof of full Covid-19 vaccination will be required
