Accounts Payable and Receivable Specialist
We have an excellent immediate opening for an Accounts Payable and Receivable Specialist. This is an important role in the daily functions of our Finance Department. The responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to general accounting functions, AR and AP processing as well as preparing Metalex Shippers, BOL’s and other required shipping documentation both domestic and international as it relates to the billing and AR function. Other duties consist of monthly and year end close and various other tasks.
Duties
- Perform day-to-day accounting activities so that general ledger activity, trial balance, and key account reconciliations are adequately prepared and monitored.
- Verify and check the accuracy of general ledger coding
- Prepare and perform Accounts Receivable functions included but not limited to invoicing and deposits and collections.
- Prepare and perform Accounts Payable functions included but not limited to resolving paperwork discrepancies, input, acquiring approval, producing checks and maintaining files.
- Assists the Treasurer and Controller with specific tasks and projects as requested.
- Communicate effectively with vendors and customers
- Be able to review customer contracts as they relate to billing
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting.
- Excellent math skills; high aptitude for figures.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and strong organizational and administrative ability.
- Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
- Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.
- Ability to work as a team member and function independently with minimal supervision
- Consistently follow work instructions to ensure all job processes are performed thoroughly and completely
- Be able to write up detailed work instructions and maintain a Job Reference Manual for all areas of responsibility
- Must take pride in your work and ensure it is neat and professional as it is a reflection on you as well as the Finance team and Metalex
Education and/or Experience
- Two year Accountancy Certificate or 4 year Accounting/Finance degree a plus
- Advanced Extensive Knowledge and Skills in Microsoft Excel (Certification preferred)
- Microsoft Suite (Word, Power point, Access, Outlook)
- Knowledge of AS400, Kronos, a plus
