Position Summary for Mobile Crane Technician
As a Mobile Crane Technician at Craneworks Inc., your role will encompass crucial responsibilities to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation’s weight handling equipment. You will interface daily with government personnel who depend on you to ensure their mission readiness. You will execute extremely thorough inspections, perform preventive maintenance, and complete repairs by stringent standards.
Responsibilities for Mobile Crane Technician
- Perform work safely and maintain the integrity, safety, and reputation of the company.
- Professionally present yourself and communicate with customers.
- Maintain accountability of assigned equipment and keep it in good working order.
- Mechanical: Diagnose and repair systems such as the chassis and undercarriage frame, wheels, outriggers, boom system, hoist and winch systems, slew systems including slewing ring bearings and drive, hook block, wire rope, sheaves, counterweight system, braking system, telescopic booms and extension and retraction cylinders, and the operator's cap structure and control mechanics.
- Electrical: Diagnose and repair components such as the power supply system, control system, safety and monitoring systems, motor control circuits, lighting system, telematics, and hydraulic system controls, including solenoid valves, sensors, and transducers.
- Hydraulic: Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, and cylinders.
- Structural: Diagnose and repair components such as chassis frame and outriggers, upperworks turntable and cab, boom sections, counterweight blocks, and A-frame and boom supports.
- Troubleshoot commercial components using OEM manuals for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural components.
- Develop solutions and estimates for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural component-level repairs.
- Gather the necessary data for senior personnel to develop estimates for major repairs, overhauls, and crane replacements.
- Understand crane terminology, including crane components.
- Perform proper OEM, OSHA, and NAVFAC P-307 inspections.
- Demonstrate knowledge and familiarity with industry standards such as OSHA, ASME, and ANSI.
- Plan general inspections and repairs as described above.
- Overnight travel approximately 12-16 weeks per year, typically on weekdays.
Qualifications for Mobile Crane Technician
- Crane Inspection/Repair: 5 years (Required)
- Driver's License and Clean DMVR (Required)
- CDL Class A
- NCCCO Certified Mobile Crane Operator License
- Manitowoc Certifications / OEM Tech
- Linkbelt Certifications / OEM Tech
- Grove Certifications / OEM Tech
- NDT Level I/II Magnetic Particle
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in electrical systems or a related field preferred
- Proven experience as a Mobile Crane Technician or similar role
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, motor control circuits, and PLCs
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems and components
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repair techniques
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Willingness to work flexible hours when necessary
- Computer literate
- Driver's license
- Willing and able to work at heights
- Pass background check
- Carry 50 lbs

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
