We are looking for an experienced Director of nursing to organize and oversee all nursing operations of the Agency. You will create a collaborative and efficient workplace with attention to quality standards and policies. There, all personnel will be able to do their best in caring for patients. A Director of Nursing’ should have once been a hard-working and compassionate registered nurse who steadily developed their managerial and administrative skills.
Job Description
- Assists in planning overall development and administration of the Agency as set forth in the policies and procedures relating to the Agency.
- Assists in the development of organizational goals
- Supervises, educates and coaches other nursing personnel as well as other care-givers and contractors thus some field supervisory visits may be required
- Develops, recommends, and administers agency policies and procedures
- Plans, implements and maintains in-service and training programs
- Oversees the maintenance of client clinical records, statistics, reports and records for purposes of evaluation and reporting of organization activities
- Ensures proper maintenance of clinical records in compliance with local, state and federal laws and all company standards are met
- Oversees chart audit processes
- Participates in preparation, day-of and any responses that may be required during audits
- Stays informed about changes in the field of nursing and home health care. Shares information with appropriate organization personnel
- Promotes home health referrals in the health care community
- Takes referrals and assigns patients to field staff. Follows up on referrals by contacting patients, physicians, family members, etc.
- Functions as a resource person for Board of Directors, and other agency employees.
- Enters OASIS documentation and clinical records into software system
- Manages and develops the agency’s Quality Assurance Improvement Program. Ensures and completes:
- Proper auditing of medical records is completed through quality assurance/quality improvement plan
- Quality assurance issues and programs are being addressed and performed
- Quality, safety and patient satisfaction performance of the agency to achieve expected targets
- Codes using relevant ICD10 codes for homecare
- Determines the necessity of medical services in compliance with federal and state reimbursement policies
- Assists in the office with answering of incoming calls and requests for assistance
- Manages the collection, tracking and hand-off as needed of incoming communications related to referrals, orders and evaluations
- Analyzes and reviews statistical reports
- Manages inventory of skilled nursing supplies and advises other staff on ordering needed medical supplies
- Supervises job classifications and job descriptions of professional personnel
- Establishes staffing patterns which reflect the quality and quantity of various personnel necessary to plan, provide and supervise the care rendered to patients and families
- Establishes and maintains methods for coordination of care by all disciplines
- Maintain contact with patients/family via telephone and patient care staff when appropriate
- Receives and acts to resolve complaints made by the patients/families regarding care or services, personnel or policies
- Coordinate with the billing department paperwork required for reimbursement
- Orient new staff
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator
- Shares on-call responsibility on an equitable basis with staff members delegated by the
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Current RN license
- Minimum one (1) year of home care experience required. Two (2) to five (5) years of clinical experience and preferred previous supervisory experience.
- Clean background and criminal record
- CPR certified
- Knowledge of computerized documentation and office software required
- Preferred: experience with OASIS and ICD10 codes
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $72,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year
