The Role
The primary function of the Art Finance Manager is to work closely with the Global Managing Director of Christie’s Art Finance to originate asset-backed loans in the US and support in the development of financial products and services to grow this exciting area of the business. This role will focus on business development with internal stakeholders within those regions, proactively source new client prospects and serve as the primary Christie’s Art Finance contact for borrowers throughout the financing process.
Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to
Work with Christie’s client and strategy teams to promote, structure and close art loan opportunities with existing Christie’s clients and drive incremental business opportunities with existing borrowers
Proactively identify and acquire new art finance prospects by establishing relationships within broader art and financing market ecosystem
Promote awareness of Christie’s Art Finance in lending market through external marketing, speaking engagements and promotion
Perform analyses and draft pitch materials to develop and present bespoke financing strategies to prospective clients.
Create indicative term sheets for pitches, draft written client communications and participate on negotiations for transactions
Review loan agreements to ensure commercial terms are accurately conveyed in contract
Responsible for market and institutional knowledge of financing market in coverage areas
Assist with the development of new ways of working, systems updates, and marketing initiatives to expand Christie’s Art Finance platform
Be an advocate for Christie’s Art Finance within the business. Demonstrate best practices and communicate new developments, ranging from day-to-day interactions to departmental presentations.
The Candidate
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
Strong Excel skills, particularly in writing formulas.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication. Superior internal and external client service skills. Persuasive.
Capacity to work efficiently and effectively in high-pressure environment. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
Decisive, makes smart compromises as needed.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize.
Strong follow-up skills with attention to detail.
