SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
In conjunction with the Associate General Counsel, the Senior Litigation Paralegal will support all phases of the single-family residential real estate litigation management process along with market real estate matters involving resident and vendor disputes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assist attorneys in managing a diverse caseload of litigation matters from inception to resolution, focusing on insurance liability claims, landlord-tenant matters, vendor disputes and all aspects of case management for notice of matter through resolution
- Discovery Support by coordinating and managing the discovery process, including gathering, organizing, and analyzing documents and other evidence by working cross-departmentally and with outside counsel
- Edit and format documents
- Maintain litigation calendars, track deadlines, and schedule appointments, hearings, and meetings for internal employees and outside law firms
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel, to facilitate case progress and information exchange
- Open new matters internally, maintain records of all communications, pleadings, discovery responses/requests, motions, court orders, settlement agreements
- Drafting internal release agreements, negotiate settlements, advise internal operations regarding disputes under the supervision of in-house attorneys
- Maintain weekly litigation tracker for investor reporting regarding risk-exposure and work directly with accounting regarding forecasting quarterly and annually
- Provide general administrative assistance to the legal department
- Communicate professionally with internal business partners, outside legal counsel, insurance carriers and staff

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma
- 5 -10 years working experience in personal injury litigation, real estate, or property management industry.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Familiar with the rules of civil procedure, landlord-tenant law, personal injury laws, and ability to assess risk/exposure by analyzing facts, internal policies/procedures, and the law
- Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
- Administrative — Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography, and transcription, designing forms, and workplace terminology.
- English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Law and Government — Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.
