General Job Summary:
Will assist Director of Activities to develop and execute the recreational and entertainment programs designed for facility residents. Works with other Activities Assistants and volunteers to ensure resident social and psychological goals/needs are being met. Will perform all other duties as required by supervisor.
Scope of Job Tasks:
Responsible for planning and participating in recreation programs and group activities; for implementation of groups, special entertainment, special holiday events, and religious activities; working as a member of the rehabilitation team with the members of the professional staff; working with individual residents as needed; participating in groups and special services for bedridden and confused groups; assists in planning special programs for holiday or religious celebrations; represents the facility with community groups and civic agencies with which specialties or interests have been built, and develops appropriate working relationships. May be required to document in resident charts. Work hours will vary to meet needs of a schedule reflecting day time, weekend, and evening activities.
Completion of high school is required, above is preferred. Strong written communication skills required.
Work Experience:
No prior experience is required.
Physical Demands:
Good physical and mental health. Finger and hand dexterity to handle and manipulate equipment. Sits and walks intermittently throughout work day. Lifts and carries relatively light equipment. Able to transport residents to and from activities.
Working Conditions:
Works indoors chiefly in well-lighted and ventilated rooms, but will utilize outdoors areas weather permitting.
Responsibility For Confidential Matters
Works regularly with some information such as medical records or reports, information on computer screens or other electronic devices, and records that are restricted to the specific persons. Must comply with confidentiality policy.
