Federal Way Public Schools (FWPS) AmeriCorps Program is focused on serving the Federal Way community through educational support and performing community outreach projects. FWPS AmeriCorps members will serve in AVID elective classrooms, general content classrooms, and after-school programming.

The position’s objective is to support high school students’ academic achievement. Members serve in a team dynamic and perform small group and one-on-one academic tutoring as assigned by the classroom Teacher.

Member Duties:
- Tutoring high school students
- Lead small study groups
- Conduct one-to-one tutoring sessions
- Follow AVID inquiry tutorial process
- Follow Teacher guidance and instruction
- Grade Tutorial Request Forms
- Track Student Data using provided equipment
- Mentor
- General classroom support
- Host after-school homework club
- Participate in team community projects

Qualifications:
- Must be 4 years removed from high school
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- US citizen or Legal resident
Preferred:
- BS or BA degree
- Tutoring and/or youth-related job experience

- Individuals who serve with FWPS AmeriCorps do not receive hourly pay or a salary during their term of service. FWPS AmeriCorps members are not employees. As full-time volunteers, members commit themselves to serve in person 40 hours a week for 10.5 months in exchange for a $3,047 monthly living stipend.
