Purpose:
The Manager of Professional Coding & Audit is an exempt, full-time remote position. The Manager will serve as the Company Representative for clients in fulfilling coding and audit project needs and resolving service issues as they arise. Assign and coordinate coder and auditor work assignments. Monitor the coding and audit teams deliverables, productivity and quality. Oversee the preparation of internal and external reporting. This job may be performed remotely. Occasional travel to client sites and company/industry conferences.

Accountabilities:
- Develops and maintains relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Oversee the workflow for all Coding & Audit staff
- Collaborates with clients to provide high quality and consistent coding and audits
- Subject matter expert for coding questions from the Supervisors, Leads, Coders, Auditors and Clients
- Produce data analytics and reports as instructed
- Perform Quality Assurance Audits on Internal and Client Staff as needed

Complete the following functions in accordance with Managed Resources policies:
- Assists with developing and maintaining company audit and coding programs
- Serve as liaison between Sales, the Clients, Coding Director, Supervisors and Coding & Audit Staff to ensure adequate staffing levels based on the client’s needs and expectations.
- Oversees company coders & auditors. Monitoring staff workloads. Setting coding turnaround time and productivity expectations. Client deliverables.
- Hires, trains, onboards and oversees coding supervisors, auditors and coders
- Perform new employee orientation.
- Ensures both internal and external stakeholders’ goals are met. Ensuring coder and auditor availability, productivity and quality goals are all met
- Advises on opportunities to improve coding performance and documentation.
- Helps create and maintain internal coding protocols and client protocols
- Provide coding and audit training to new and existing staff.
- Performs periodic quality assurance audits on coding and audit team. Completes client audits as necessary and/or available.
- Reviews or prepares reports on coders and auditors time and productivity.
- Serves as an educator for the audit and other healthcare professionals/departments in the use of coding guidelines and proper documentation requirements as it relates to data quality management and reimbursement.
- Performs coding education and audit feedback sessions to Clients.
- Assist with proposals, presentations, statement of work, and RFP’s as needed
- Subject matter expert and resource to internal and external stakeholders
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of coding exams and screening assessments to assist recruiters in hiring staff.
- Review and approve timesheets for coding & audit staff
- Review and/or prepare client billing information for division services. Forwarding to Director for final approval.
- Prepare and conduct annual evaluations of team performance, as directed by HR
- Comply with policies regarding the use and disclosure of protected health information which includes accessing and using protected health information
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes impacting coding requirements and ensures audit staff are appropriately educated.

Ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Associate degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Health Information Management or related field.
- Professional Coder (CPC) certification issued by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC),
- Prior experience as a Coding Manager or Lead; remote environment is a plus
- 7+ years of experience in professional coding that includes experiences in advanced level of ICD, CPT and HCPCS professional coding in a large, complex clinic or hospital setting at a lead or senior level.
- Multi-specialty coding and audit experience
- Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities including team building, conflict resolution, project management and effective decision making.
- Exceptional knowledge of ICD, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Advanced computer skills including the use of Microsoft office products, especially Excel, electronic mail, including experience with electronic coding systems or applications.
