Job Description:
As a Molding Quality Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting and verifying the quality of all molded parts, ensuring that they meet the required specifications before being approved for use in production. You will also be responsible for entering and reviewing production inspection data and making recommendations for process improvements. You will work closely with the Master Molder and Molding Techs to ensure that all products are of the highest quality.
Essential Job Function:
As Molding Quality Technician, you will be required to monitor the daily in-process production by performing visual, dimensional and functional inspections on all parts running in the department. This is a working position that will require you stand, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb to perform work. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier weights with the proper equipment.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Perform and enter into SPC visual, dimensional and functional inspections in accordance with in-process inspection procedures.
· Dimensionally inspect product utilizing various measuring devices, such as calipers, height gages, dial gages, and color vision system.
· Document inspections in SPC and Quality alerts.
· Recognize defects on molded parts and communicate with Molding Technicians when defects arise.
· Seeks out, makes recommendations for and implements changes and improvements in quality, safety, and product throughput.
· Maintain Molding Quality Lab including organization and cleanliness of area.
· Write Material Hold Ticket to isolate rejected or suspect parts.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
· Minimum education – High School, some college preferred
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely while maintaining a friendly and cooperative atmosphere.
· Must be well organized with good written and oral skills.
· Must have basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
· Must be able to work well with multiple departments.
· Ability and desire to learn proper metrology and measuring practices.
Physical Demands:
Must possess mobility to work in a standard warehouse setting and work with and around a variety of equipment, parts, and inventory, to operate a motor vehicle and forklift; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium physical work; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. The job involves walking and working on slippery surfaces. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb to perform work. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier weights with the proper equipment. All employees must wear company approved safety glasses while in the plant and distribution areas.
Environmental Elements:
Employees primarily work in the warehouse and are exposed to loud noise levels, vibration, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards, and moving objects or other vehicles. May be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, mechanical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Employees may interact with staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
