Under the general supervision of the laboratory Principal Investigator and the Assistant Adjunct Professor, the SRA's major functions will be to evaluate targeted nuclease-mediated genome editing in cell lines and hematopoietic cells. The role will involve supervised research on the use of gene editing techniques to directly modify the human genome. Direct guidance is provided through informal discussions and weekly meetings with the laboratory Principal Investigator and lab personnel, to discuss project in progress, challenges, experimental objectives and resulting data in conjunction with the research goals of the laboratory.

Qualifications

Cell Procedures for Cell Lines and Hematopoietc Stem Cells Basic knowledge in these culture procedures for both cell lines and hematopoietic stem cells.
- B.S. degree om the Biological Sciences with basic knowledge in culture procedures for both cell lines and hematopoietic stem cells, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to work both semi-independently after the 3 to 6 month training period and as part of a team.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working conditions and relationships with other staff members and students.

Knowledge of sterile techniques used in tissue culture.

Strong skills in computing cell concentrations, solution preparation, and other needed mathematical calculations.

Basic molecular biology techniques. Skills in PCR, DNA and RNA isolation.

Good communication skills (written, oral) to maintain lab protocols, notebooks, and to prepare and make research presentations in lab meetings.

Organization skills to maintain detailed laboratory protocols, ordering information, and inventories of reagents.

Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate non-customary timing constraints of experiments. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Ability to move and lift up to 25 lbs.
