OVERALL SUMMARY:
The appointment scheduler is responsible for all office and outpatient scheduling with an emphasis on thorough follow-through.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Schedules patient appointments for office and outpatient hospital for all physicians and nurse practitioner.

Carries out discharge instructions from hospital rounds cards.

Works directly with individual physicians and nurses regarding add-ons, rescheduling, and emergent patients.

Interacts in a cooperative and flexible manner with patients, physicians, front desk, hospital scheduling secretaries, and all other RGA departments.

Reacts in a calm and responsive manner whenever rescheduling occurs.

Becomes knowledgeable concerning patient’s symptoms and develops the ability to identify instances when a nursing assessment is needed.

Become knowledgeable and proficient with computer scheduling.

Develop a thorough understanding of diagnostic tests and procedures being scheduled in order to give appropriate patient instructions.

Develop a thorough understanding of the total scope of the practice to include both office and hospital.

Communicate scheduling changes to all necessary personnel at both hospital and office.

Recognize the need for and request assistance for m the patient care coordinator or the patient care manager for difficult scheduling needs.

Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:

High school graduate.

Present a neat professional appearance.

Create a good impression as a friendly, empathetic, composed and efficient individual on the phone and in face-to-face contact with patients.

Demonstrate reliability, a pleasant attitude and a willingness to perform the duties required.

Demonstrate effective communication with physicians and co-workers.

Able to maintain and comply with patient confidentiality and integrity policy on all matters.
