We are a local transportation company seeking a highly organized and motivated Entry-Level Transportation Manager to oversee the operations of our La Crosse-area terminal. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership potential, attention to detail, and a foundational understanding of transportation. They will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of all terminal activities, including coordinating transportation schedules, providing customer support, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Terminal Operations:
- Manage daily operations at the transportation terminal, including quoting, scheduling, dispatching, and routing.
- Develop and implement procedures to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement.
2. Team Coordination:
- Hire, train, and supervise terminal staff.
- Provide clear communication and support to the team to foster a positive and productive work environment.
3. Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and assist in implementing necessary changes.
Sales/Customer Service:
- Provide pricing for services to customers.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and vendors.
4. Data Management and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to terminal activities.
- Assist in preparing and presenting reports on terminal performance to senior management.
- Utilize relevant computer applications and software to manage data effectively.
5. Interdepartmental Coordination:
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of terminal operations with overall company objectives.
- Collaborate with sales and customer support teams to address client needs and improve service offerings.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the transportation/trucking field and looking to make a move to management.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Basic understanding of transportation regulations and industry best practices.
