Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller

Management of company's accounting, tax, financial operations, and reporting. Supports financial audits, appraisals, and outside inquiries. Manages three companies consolidating general ledger accounting, costing, along with internal and external financial reporting processes. The accounting department staff report to this position. Responsible for documenting, implementing, and insuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures. Maintains company plan to actual comparisons and financial performance review processes. Insures Intercompany accounts stay reconciled. Prepares consolidated financial statements. Insures that supporting details and schedules for things like LIFO and Fixed assets are maintained according to accounting and tax standards. Handles special projects as assigned, such as accounting and administrative needs of the owner’s real estate entities.
- Prepares and distributes monthly company, intercompany, and consolidated financial statements on both FIFO and LIFO basis, (Bank, MSCI, etc.) within reporting deadlines; prepared in compliance with proper accounting policies/procedures and financial systems.
- Manages, directs and supervises accounting staff, delivers performance reviews.
- Responsible for maintaining, reporting, remitting, and compliance of Corporate, Sales, Real Estate, and CAT taxes.
- Preparation of or assists in company plan and financial forecasts.
- Assists and coordinates audit / appraisal activities with outside CPA firms, lending institutions and other professional business associates as needed.
- Performs other duties as related or assigned.
- Good attendance is an essential function of this job.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required, CPA certification required.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, 2 years Public Accounting experience preferred.
Previous management supervision experience.
Experience with inventory, manufacturing, and intercompany & multiple location accounting.
Excellent customer service, teamwork and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong mathematics, analytical problem solving, and leadership skills.
Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Strong commitment to company goals and results; detail oriented, accurate and organized.
Advanced abilities with Microsoft Excel. Intermediate abilities with Microsoft Word.
Solid technical skills with various accounting software applications, MS Office, etc.
