Job Title: Slitter Set Up Assistant - 2nd Shift
Work Location: Cleveland
Reports To: Slitting Manager
Job Summary:
Works from written and verbal instructions and practical experience to properly operate and troubleshoot slitter arbors to meet all order requirements.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Work alone or with a team member to assembly and/or disassembly the arbor
· Review the head setup and calculated clearances using the Clearances Table and the material's properties to verify MIS calculations are correct
· Select the proper knives and rubbers
· Inspect all knives for damage and remove any debris using a cloth
· Follow the generated head setup correctly
· Able to read and use the Mill gage chart if available
· Able to use and rotate slit arbor assembly turntable and adjusting overhead shaft coupler to match drive side
· Assist the Uncoiler Assistant by advancing the uncoiled steel up to the slit head
· Assist slitter operator with slit head adjustment as required
- Follow all instructions in the JSA & WI file
· Be able to perform basic math, and read work instructions/setup sheets
· Replace the jet nut and manually tighten with tools provided. Add grease to the jet nut to tighten, wipe excess grease from the jet nut
· Work in an efficient manner to complete work orders in the required amount of time
· Maintain all aspects of product quality
· Wear proper personal protective equipment
· Maintain a safe work environment by following the safety guidelines
· Complete housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean work environment
· Work overtime when required.
Minimum Qualifications:
A High School degree, GED, or related educational equivalent.
Preferred knowledge and Competencies:
· 1 year of set up or slitting experience preferred, not required
· Experience working with steel, or similar material
· Ability to read a tape measure and use basic arithmetic
· General understanding and ability to complete basic functions on a computer and able to use a printer
· Ability to interpret and communicate written and verbal instructions
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, typically within the hours of 2:00 PM to 12:30 AM. Some overtime during the week may be required and some Saturdays are required as job duties demand.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
· Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
· Light to moderate noise; the warehouse requires a hardhat plus eye- and occasional ear-protection
