The Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Immunology at Morehouse School of Medicine is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Fellow to join the laboratory of Dr. Erica L. Johnson to study placental immunology during gestation and mother-to-child transmission of HIV, HCMV, and other clinically relevant pathogens that threaten a healthy start for children globally. The postdoctoral fellow will lead a multidisciplinary project aimed at characterizing mechanisms of viral protection and transmission during pregnancy, with a focus on racial disparities in the mother infant dyad (R01-funded). The applicants should hold a doctoral degree (PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent) and have strong training in immunology, virology, molecular biology, developmental biology, and/or genetics. Candidates must also demonstrate a track record of research productivity, scientific rigor, excellent communication skills, and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
