Full Job Description

Summary:

Primarily operate, monitor, and maintain treatment facilities to include wastewater treatment & drinking water facilities as assigned. Work independently or alongside other employees and contractors as required.

The following is a general list of essential duties and responsibilities; other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for the efficient and productive operation of all wastewater and water treatment systems as assigned.
Responsible for maintenance of wastewater and water distribution and collection systems and related infrastructure. XXX
Responsible for maintenance and operation of the drinking water supply treatment facility and responsible for maintenance and operation of the wastewater treatment facility, as directed by Supervisor.
Observe and maintain conditions of wastewater and water while making the necessary chemical and process adjustments and/or contacting supervisor for guidance on necessary adjustments.
Utilize SCADA system and other technologies for effective monitoring of facilities and conditions.
Remain current on changing technologies, practices, and procedures to improve the operation of the facilities responsible for through regular classes, training, seminars, professional meetings, professional organizations, technical journals, industry resources, etc.
Independently conduct physical, chemical, and microbiological sampling and testing as required by all permits, authorizations, and applicable regulations.
Perform maintenance on facility equipment as necessary.
Ensure compliance with all applicable wastewater and water regulatory and permit requirements to include, but not limited to, recordkeeping, reports, daily logs, chemical addition, chlorine residuals, PFOA, PFAS, MCLs, etc.
Ensure compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and company policies and procedures while working independently at company facilities or alongside subcontractors.
Assist with investigations regarding sources of contaminants within the wastewater and water systems when necessary and address potential hazardous waste material management and disposal.
Maintain cleanliness and safety of equipment, instrumentation, tools, and workplace throughout day-to-day work.
Available for 24-hour coverage and on call as needed.
Respond to customer, neighbor, or community inquiries and emergencies via telephone, email, or in person as necessary and in compliance with company standards.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No direct reports. Supports the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of water supply and wastewater operations, including subcontractors, in conjunction with Maintenance and Grounds, Water Quality, and Wastewater Superintendency.

Qualification Requirements:

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or a minimum of four years of related experience in the wastewater/water industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Some working knowledge or experience with hazardous waste materials and management is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid PA driver's license.
Ability to secure and maintain the necessary federal security and medical clearances for onsite work in a federal facility.
Possess and/or obtain and maintain required water and wastewater certifications for compliant operation of facilities. Class A and E wastewater certifications and Drinking water Class A and E certifications with subclasses, preferred, but will train the appropriate candidate.

Physical Demands:

The employee must be able to handle significant responsibility, be able to work well under stress and work additional hours in order to meet deadlines or meet the requirements of the position during emergency situations.
The employee must be able to safely operate a company vehicle while traveling for long distances for business purposes.
The employee must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, and regularly walk, sit, stand, bend, stoop, and crouch.

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
