Job Title: Abugida Academy Director/ child care center Director.

Abugida Academy a 4-star rated daycare by the Texas Rising Star (TRS) program, where we are dedicated to creating a nurturing, diverse, and safe environment that fosters the growth and development of every child. Our mission is to provide a home away from home where children feel valued, respected, and inspired to learn.

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director to lead our team and ensure our daycare meets the Texas Rising Star 4-star standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for creating a safe and nurturing environment for children.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee daily operations of the daycare

- Ensure compliance with state regulations and TRS 4-star standards

- Manage and support staff

- Develop and implement educational programs

- Maintain a safe, clean, and positive environment for children

- Communicate effectively with parents and staff

- Handle administrative tasks, including budgeting and enrollment

- Market, Tour Abugida Academy for Enrollment

- When necessary, interview all employees including auxiliary staff, volunteers and interns prior to service.

- Provide job descriptions, orientation and training for new employees, volunteers and interns.

- Plan, host and direct staff meetings.

- Provide supervision for all employees.

- Conducting employee, activity and program evaluations, both formal and informal.

- Secretarial responsibilities.

- With the help of all employees, ensure the indoor and outdoor environment is always pleasant.

- With assistance from all employees, maintain the physical environment of Abugida Academy.

- Establish good communication between employees, between employees and the director, and between employees and the administrator.

- Bring employee disciplinary problems to the attention of the director. Follow policy procedures for Employee Warnings and Notices.

- Maintain documentation of daily occurrences at Abugida Academy regarding the care of the children or employee situations.

- Be attentive to employees and offer support and practical help when questions or problems arise.

- Maintain consistency in the application of policies and procedures.

- Maintain the reputation of the school by expecting professionalism from each staff member.

- Treat each individual with dignity and respect.

- Maintain staff electronic and paper files.

- Update staff calendar on a monthly basis.

- Coordinate and update staffing list and staff birthday list.

- Attend to all scheduling needs; enlisting the help of other personnel as needed.

- Maintain work hours and/or time cards for all employees.

- Teaching and Leadership Responsibilities

- Employees must at all times maintain appropriate manners and respect for the children, clientele and colleagues.

- Be a positive role model in manners, language and tone of voice in order to provide the best example of appropriate behavior for the children.

- Foster a strong feeling of professional support and encouragement among all employees. Consider the needs of others and maintain the highest quality of service to clientele.

- Greet the children and parents by name upon arrival and departure.

- Establish routines for separation and encourage parents to wave "good-bye" every morning, without fail. Encourage acknowledgement of child and daily successes.

- Extra care should be given to the appearance of the children prior to daily departure, so that they are sent home clean and in appropriate attire.

- Set the rules and limits of the classroom and ensure assistant teachers/aides are aware of the limits so follow through will be consistent.

- Provide nurturance and tenderness to allow the children to become comfortable in their classroom.

- Supervise and interact with the children in all areas of the program including outdoors and during field trips. Assist in the supervision of all activities sponsored by Abugida Academy.

- Promote integral learning during meal and bathroom times; help the children learn appropriate pro-social skills, self-help skills and manners.

- Coordinate the snack and meal program with assistance from the Owner and kitchen staff.

- Demonstrate learning materials and lead small and large group activities.

- Help the children control behavior through the use of positive, appropriate approaches as outlined in Abugida Academy handbook.

- Provide an environment that helps each child develop to the fullest in each area of development.

- Be familiar with and adhere to the program's policies, health and safety regulations, and emergency procedures, and be ready to implement these as necessary.

- Explain and demonstrate emergency procedure drills to teachers, assistants, aides, substitutes, volunteers and to the children.

-Keep a record of daily attendance for each child.

-Update classroom census on a weekly basis.

- Maintain daily ratio check sheet each day.

-Assist in maintaining the observational records and developmental checklists for each child.

- Assist in maintaining individual cumulative files (portfolios) for all employees containing employment records, in-service training, and personnel information. Maintain individual health records for personnel separate from the cumulative file.

- Assist in maintaining individual cumulative files (portfolios) for each child containing enrollment forms, emergency information and contact information, and all personal information. Maintain individual health records for personnel separate from the cumulative file.

- Maintain accurate records on the children's emergency information cards.

- Plan, prepare, and help care for both the indoor and outdoor environment.

-Establish and maintain an attractive, inviting, interesting, and stimulating physical environment.

- Oversee and share the housekeeping responsibilities to maintain an orderly, safe, clean and workable rooms so it projects a positive image to visitors and the general public.

- Participate in regular or seasonal cleaning, organizing, set up and inventory.

- Recognize and make recommendations to the director regarding the maintenance and improvements of the physical plant and grounds necessary for meeting health and safety child care requirements.

- Attend and participate in staff meetings, professional organizations, conferences, lectures and other educational events.

- Maintain personal cumulative file (portfolio) containing employment records, in-service training, First Aid and CPR training and health records.

- Maintain accurate records and accounts with Texas State Licensing Division, Child and Adult Care Food Program (C.A.C.F.P.), NCI and other agencies, in collaboration with the Owner.

- Be aware of and follow Abugida Academy policy on suspected cases of child abuse and/or neglect.

- Be familiar with all curriculum materials adopted, approved and recommended by TRS

- Conduct/attend regular lesson plan review meetings.

- Assist the program administrators in long range planning with regard to curriculum, the program's philosophy, and goals.

- Complete monthly, weekly, and daily curriculum plans and communicate these plans to assistant teachers and aides, and if needed, to other teachers within the program.

- Plan field trips in accordance with policy, including transportation.

- Procure books from the library appropriate and relevant to the current curriculum plan.

· Assist in providing annual curriculum updates, new ideas, resources, and materials and Internet access.

· Ensure that curriculum is in keeping with current early childhood education philosophy.

· Plan, implement, and monitor curriculum that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual needs of the children.

· Ensure the curriculum is based on the developmental levels of the children and consistent with early childhood best practices.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a minimum of 3 years of experience in early childhood education management or

- AA/AAS in ECE or closely related field with 6 College credits in ECE and 3 credit hours in business Management with 8 years of experience

- Knowledge of Texas Rising Star standards

- CPR and First Aid certification

- Strong leadership and organizational skills

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
