Full Job Description

Job Description:

As the lead stocker the main objective is to assist the grocery manager in the processing of all incoming deliveries. This includes but is not limited to physically receiving incoming deliveries, setting carts and workloads for stockers, organizing and calling special orders as well as keeping stock rooms organized and accessible. This will be a full time position and applicants should be able to lift at least 50 lbs and be comfortable standing for long periods of time.

Schedule:

This employee will be needed Tuesday through Saturday. This position will require a staggered schedule, starting 6:00 am Wednesday & Friday, ending the day at 2pm. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday starting at 8am and ending at 4 (flexible hours on Saturday.)

Tasks:

Receiving incoming deliveries
Assisting stockers with orders when necessary
Identifying and writing up damaged, short dated & mispicked items
Keeping backstock rooms organized and clean
Taking note and refilling low/empty bulk bins
Keeping bulk backstock labeled and sealed properly
Holding and calling all customer case orders
Scanning out damages and expired items
Checking dates on existing products and actioning short dated items
Transferring Items to and from storage

Receiving Deliveries:

A big part of this position will be physically receiving deliveries. As mentioned before It will be necessary that the lead stocker can lift at least 50 lbs and is comfortable standing for long periods of time. The Lead Stocker will be tasked with separating incoming orders and staging carts for stockers. In addition to staging carts this employee will be checking incoming orders against invoices to catch any errors, writing up and organizing items that are damaged during deliveries and items that were sent in error as well as organizing and calling special orders.

Bulk:

Attention should be paid to Bulk daily, assessing what bins will need to be filled earlier in the day, then filling the necessary bins after incoming orders are stocked. The bulk room must be kept clean and organized, the floor and any spillage must be swept after each shift. All bags must be tightly taped and sealed and labeled properly. Labels on backstock items should be clearly visible. Bins should be cleaned on a regular basis.

Checking Dates:

When all other higher priority tasks are completed the Lead Stocker will also maintain a regular schedule of checking expiration dates throughout the grocery department to ensure any expired products are found and removed from the system. Any short dated items found while checking dates will be written up and reported to the Grocery Manager or Buyer for actioning.

Qualifications
- Stocking experience in a retail environment
- Ability to handle packaging and merchandising tasks efficiently
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on retail sales
- Experience in shipping and receiving, including loading and unloading
- Familiarity with inventory management and control
- Ability to communicate effectively in a grocery store setting
